Great hotel and location!

Posted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Comfortable, quiet, and great location.
Cons: Need hooks in bathroom. Since suite is so small, would remove coffee table (we moved out of the way) and maybe add a small side chair (vs desk chair)
Location: Quiet, upper west side - Nice Matin on Amsterdam for breakfast - McAleer's Pub-Great prices and food - also on Amsterdam.
We had a great experience at Park 79. There were 3 of us and we had the junior suite which was clean, freshly painted and A/C worked great. We saw the standard room and it looked very small. I would only stay in the junior suite even with 2 people - not sure how many of those they have. Needed a small fan for the bedroom for air circulation. Bathroom beautiful and great shower head, but could use some hooks. There's not a lot of space and when you use the sofa sleeper, there is little room to get to the bathroom from the bedroom -- but it's manageable. We moved the coffee table out of the way immediately to give us more space overall and that made a huge difference. It was great to have a refrigerator and microwave. There are 2 TVs; beds are comfortable and there are lots of pillows! Location great and staff helpful in recommending nearby restaurants. Close to subway. Wonderful selection of coffees and teas in lobby every morning. Loved the quiet neighborhood in contrast to Midtown Manhattan -- a nice escape -- no sirens or garbage trucks within hearing distance, which we are so used to now! I've stayed at so many hotels -- I'd rate this in my top 3 because of location, cleanliness and service.

The carpet was dirty, the bathrooms smelled moldy, the elevator was extremely slow, and the place was generally in need of a major overhaul.

So close to Central Park

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: The location...awsome!
Cons: The beds were a little old...
Location: You're gonna be 7 blocks away from Strawberry Fields in Central Park. If you need a ride, you can get anywhere you want with 2 sw stations near...
Excellent location, near to Central Park (2 blocks), in front of the Natural History Museum, and 2 blocks from subway stations...great!

Great location

We had a great stay at the hotel, and the location was close to Central Park and the subway. The staff were very friendly and helpful, as well. We would definitely recommend getting one of the larger rooms if you are staying as a couple or family. We had a King Deluxe Room and it was very nice--nothing fancy, but roomy, clean and had everything we needed. Our son and his family, however, had a standard room, which was extremely small--there was not even room to walk around the bed (it was up against the one wall!), which was particularly difficult with a tiny toddler. Both of our rooms did have their own bathrooms, but some of the rooms share a bath. Be sure you know what you're getting. There is no parking at the hotel, but they do have arrangements for discounted parking at one of the garages several blocks away. We had to pay a little more, but we were able to get parking at a garage very close to the hotel, which was nice. We were at the hotel for four nights, and I would recommend it to others. It is a very good value for New York City in a nice location.

Great location in heart of New York

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Cons: The pictures were beautiful on the Expedia website. It gave a false impression of the hotel.
I loved the location of the hotel. It was right next to Central Park . I was able to go for a run every day before my adventure. The hotel wasn't maintained. Many items were broken. The room was really small. Still the location beat all my discomfort. Next to the hotel there 2 major subway station and you are able to go anywhere in the city. Even the JFK airport. Great restaurants and shops surrender the hotel which was very convenient.

A Room By the Park

Posted Jun 30, 2014
Pros: It was clean and quiet.
Cons: The elevator was hot small and slow. But the building looks to be about 60 years old and well kept otherwise.
This was the first time I had visited my home town and didn't 'couch surf' at the houses of family and friends. And what a great choice it was. It was quiet and simple and clean. With a view of all the NYC roof tops (I was on the 7th Fl) and central park and the museum right on the corner! It was a real treat to be next to the train and so many restaurant choices. I would highly recommend Park 79 Hotel. Book a reservation today...Just not in room #715...Thats MY ROOM! lol

Posted Jun 27, 2014
Pros: Location and look of the hotel.
Cons: I think it was good as is.
Location: Just WALK and Explore !!!
Great location for going just about anywhere. One staff member in particular, George, was Awesome !! Loved feeling like we were a local since the hotel is in a residential area. Easy walking down Columbus Ave, so much fun. I cannot wait to return !
