Günstiges Hotel mitten in Manhattan

Posted Apr 23, 2015
Pros: Lage, Zimmer, Personal

Highly recommend this place!!

Posted Apr 16, 2015
Pros: The convenience of the location and the affordable price.
Cons: The wifi doesn't stay on when the phone is off. I missed a few messages while sleeping. I had to manually logging on each time I turn the phone on.
Location: Grand Central Terminal is about 3 blocks away. NYCAirporter is 1 block away.
Highly highly recommend this hotel for people travelling alone or with friends. It's about 3 blocks away from Grand Central Terminal and 1 block away from NYCAirporter. When travelling, you hardly stay at the hotel during the day, so you just need a clean and safe space to sleep and shower. This is it! It's got all the basic amenities you need. And the affordable price is hard to beat. The smallest unit-Single Pod is perfect for one person and comes with a private washroom. The only things I take one star off is the carpet smells a bit like dirty shoes whenever I enter the room. The wifi doesn't stay on when your phone is off. You have to manually logging on every time you turn your phone on. I missed a couple of messages while sleeping. The mattress cover is a bit small for the bed, it keeps coming off from the corners of the bed. And one more thing to watch out for people with long hair. The hairdryer sucks in your hair when you use it. It happened to me twice. So be careful and don't get it too close to your hair when blow drying. Otherwise, I had a pleasant stay and would book it again and definitely recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to NYC whether on a budget or not.

Overpriced Hotel with trendy look

Posted Apr 14, 2015
Pros: The room itself was clean and bright
Cons: The elevator service should be faster. Having to rely on them was not ideal.
Location: Location was ok, there is always something to see and do in NYC. I wouldn't say that Pod 39 had a fabulous location.
I stayed overnight in this hotel and found it to be an OK experience all around. I think that the price was too high considering I have stayed at places like Yotel which were far superior to Pod 39. The location was good, but there was a cold feeling to the place. The attached restaurant and bar was really expensive and provided a lackluster feel. The staff at Pod 39 were OK, but not great either. Watch our for the elevators...seem like they were tired with each journey I took on them.

Ask for a higher floor

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: The room was clean with a private small bathroom but it just enough.
Cons: I don't know if it is possible but the rooms located at the lower floors should have sound prof feature... Or front desk should handle ear plugs.
Location: I was not in NYC for location so the hotel was in an excellent place for my needs, but it depends what everyone wants to do.
I like the room, it had a private small bathroom; but I got a 2nd floor room and I could not sleep at all because of the outside noise.

Nice hotel with great location

I really enjoyed this hotel. Had a last minute trip into the city this weekend and this was one of the most affordable options. The rooms are adorable with modern style fixtures and the double bed was very comfortable. I'd recommend this to anyone!

Pros: Very convenient to Grand Central Terminal, very nice staff.
Cons: Not much can be modified- the rooms are SMALL, but they say that.
I've stayed there before, so there were few surprises. The restaurant has very good food, but service is lax in the day and it's mostly a bar scene at night. Haven't been to the rooftop garden.

Cool, modern hotel

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: Location; price; staff; food
Cons: lightning in the bathroom; nicer towels
Location: Murray Hilll near Grand Central Station; easy walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, Empire State Building, Macy's, and much more.
I took my daughter to New York for her 13th birthday. We stayed in a mini-bunk pod and although the room was indeed micro sized, it was perfect for us! We were rarely in our room but when we were, we were happily ensconced in our own bunks. The bathroom was big enough with a neat waterfall shower head, although the lighting was terrible and the towels were scratchy. The attached restaurant (Salvation Taco) is aesthetically interesting and the food was amazing. The margaritas were great, too! We didn't make it up to the much-acclaimed rooftop lounge. The concierge services were top notch and the whole stay was really quite pleasant. The hotel is just a few blocks from Grand Central Station and within easy walking distance to Times Square, Central Park, Empire State Building (we had a view of it from our window!), and so much more.
