Good place to stay for NYC's 5-boro ride

Posted May 4, 2015
Pros: Close to the Staten Island ferry. Had a restaurant to go to that was walking distance. Clean, small and low-key environment with friendly staff.
Location: Conveniently located off the Staten Island Expressway (278) and also Victory Ave. A couple of places to eat nearby that were not fancy or expensive.
My friend and I stayed at the Ramada Staten Island the night before New York City's 5-Boro ride. It was very convenient to stay there because it is relatively close to the Staten Island Ferry, which we took to get to Battery Park in Manahattan. Quite a few other bikers where staying there. All we needed was a place to stay the one night and the Ramada Inn served our needs perfectly. The place was very clean and the staff was very nice. Couldn't ask for anything more. We had dinner at a pizzeria/Italian restaurant that was nearby and that we were able to walk, so that was very convenient.

Nice rooms, but location a little inconvenient.

Posted Apr 29, 2015
Cons: Internet access could be more convenient.
Location: Victory Blvd is close by and provides access to nice some local parks.
The hotel is on a one way street north of the Interstate, so access can be a little inconvenient. Somehow the wireless system kept forgetting my access, and I had to log back in several times. Otherwise the rooms are very nice, clean and spacious.

Convenient location, small but adequate clean room. Need to maintain a little better there were signs of wear and tear with slapdash repairs. Some of the other guests very noisy but that is not the hotels's fault.

If you have to be in Staten Island...

Posted Apr 12, 2015
Pros: Low cost
Cons: Better breakfast, and at least extend the time until 9:30 on weekends.
Location: Historic Richmond Town, Staten Island Mall.
For the price the place is not bad. There are not that many places to stay on the island. We had to be there for a week visiting family, and I did not want to spend a whole lot on a hotel. This fit the bill. It is no frills, but was clean and well kept. The room was comfortable with relatively new decor. The location next to the Staten Island Expressway is definitely NOT scenic, but was easy for getting on and off with the car. If you have to be in Staten Island, I guess this is not too bad. The breakfast ended at 9, and was barely worth the effort.

Good value for the price. Excellent location -- two block walk to major bus line. Thirty minute trip to ferry terminal. Friendly and helpful staff.

Location: the location was great, next to the expressway and easy to get in and out of.
the room was a little small but clean and comfortable

I was happily surprised...

Pros: Clean & quiet. Good place for a single.
Cons: Explanation of how to get there & parking. Breakfast could be a little better, too. Need a business phone book & S.I. map in each room.
Location: Bus line was close by as was the main Highway. Lots of diners & places to get a quick bite nearby, too.
I had not been to S.I. since 1995 and I had no clue where to stay for a reasonable rate. The Staten Island Ramada provided a clean and pleasant stay for my 3 day visit. When asked, they did mention that they renovated about 3-4 years ago. The only issue was the parking lot is small but that's a S.I. problem across the board. They were helpful in providing a 1st floor room and they even had a small 'snack' shop area. They do need to advertise that they are on the corner of N. Gannon & Willowbrook Road (off Victory Blvd) because they were a little hard to find with all the construction & detours. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Breakfast was okay, but not anything special. I would come back again. Thanks Ramada of Staten Island for an excellent 3 day stay.
