Not user friendly

Posted May 18, 2015
I had booked a room for my birthday with the plan to party at the rooftop lounge and to have a few cocktails with some friends beforehand, since the lounge opens at 11 pm. However they harassed my guests who were coming up to my room because of some ridiculous policy of "only 2 guests" It was quite embarrassing to say the least. Not only that they wanted to charge my guests $10 to come to my room. (Even tho they "weren't allowed up there") Mind you, I payed $300 for ONE NIGHT

Nice hotel with beautiful view

Posted May 1, 2015
I loved my stay at this hotel, however, I upgraded my room to a King-Size Suite on the 5th floor. Rooms have a balcony, my suite had a view to the city and Brooklyn Bridge which it was breath taking. The Rooftop Japanese restaurant was amazing!

Typisch amerikanisches Hotel

Posted Apr 28, 2015

Very Nice Hotel under the Queensboro Bridge

Posted Apr 27, 2015
Pros: The Hotel front desk staff were extremely pleasant and very helpful when we had questions about the area or advice on good places to go.
Cons: Room was very chic but, not user friendly ie: the toilet was enclosed by only a frosted glass door (no privacy,No fan)
Location: Location was good just not close walking distance to a subway (but they do have a FREE shuttle) plus some good restaurants in the area.
We booked a Queen room and when we got to the Hotel we were upgraded to a King room (there weren't any available when I was booking)

Major construction

Posted Apr 24, 2015
Pros: location
Cons: It needs a major facelift and a ventilation system to remove horrible cooking smell
Location: TESTACCIO RISTORANTE was great, hotel shuttle was convenient and also reliable.
Poorly managed construction going on. Took me three drives around the block to find the entrance. Free paging = street parking.

The hotel might be okay once the renovations are complete. For the time being, however, it's kind of a mess. Also, they put me on the first floor even though the hotel was clearly far from full. Being on street level in Queens is not a good thing.

Nice hotel. Excellent view.

Posted Apr 8, 2015
Pros: Shuttle bus service was great!
Cons: Lightening in bathroom was very dim.
Location: Nice restaurants, ease of trained stations to go into city.
The staff was friendly and very helpful. They had a free shuttle to local area and subway locations which was very useful. The hotel was under construction because of an expansion to the hotel. The hotel is probably geared for a younger hipper crowd then my 2 teenagers and myself. The rooms have wine, vodka, and many types of liquor on the dressers for purchase and a minibar. We would definately stay again when renovation is completed.

Very, very noisy

Posted Apr 7, 2015
The hotel is currently doing a huge construction project in out their courtyard area. My wife and I stayed there on a Tuesday night and Wednesday morning THEY STARTED JACKHAMMERING AT 0700 IN THE MORNING. The jackhammering was right outside our room and it sounded like he was jackhammering my pillow. When I complained to the front desk they barely apologized and said the best they could do was change our room. THEY MOVED US ONE FLOOR UP DIEECTLY ABOVE THE JACKHAMMERING. It was still super loud and we could not get any sleep. I understand that they have to get their construction done, but to start at 0700 am seems rediculous to me. If you are looking to sleep in past 7 o'clock, then Ravel Hotel is not for you.
