Property Amenities
Celebrity hotelier André Balazs designed this Manhattan hotel with just the essentials for globe-trotting fashion models and young professionals. Room-Mate Grace has no doorstaff, porter/bellhop, conference room, or restaurant. The front desk resembles a sidewalk newsstand and sells snack foods, liquor and beverages, and periodicals. But it does provide a Continental breakfast (surcharge), a pool social center, and a poolside bar.
A complimentary, 24-hour mezzanine social area at Room-Mate Grace centers around an indoor pool with underwater music and a service window for drinks from the hotel bar. Complimentary wireless Internet access is available.
Slate amphitheater seating leads from the pool to a red-tiled, unisex steam room and an expansive unisex sauna. Between them, a slate-lined communal shower room with glass side walls and bench contains five rain showerheads.
A DJ performs Friday and Saturday nights in the pool's amphitheater. When the DJ is not present, contemporary background music plays throughout the mezzanine level. Room-Mate Grace mezzanine also includes a small, 24-hour complimentary fitness center overlooking West 45th Street through a pink window.
Room Mate Grace is a smoke-free property. (Fines apply for violations.)

“The good and the not so good.....”
My daughter and I stayed at this hotel during a recent trip to see Billy Elliot and the Christmas Spectacular and Radio City. The location of this hotel was perfect for what we were doing, and the hotel was clean and staff friendly. The room was about the size that I expected for NYC. The odd thing about the room was the bathroom. The commode was separate from the sink and shower area (so far so good), but there was no door on the sink and shower area, and only a sliding door on the commode area. If you desire privacy in the bathroom area, this is not the hotel for you. On the other hand, I loved the large European style shower head and the roomy shower. Bottom line, I would go again for an overnight stay, but I don't think I would want to stay there for several days.
“Great Hotel! Great Location!”
My boyfriend and I loved everything about this awesome hotel in the heart of the city. The room was perfect for the two of us, shower great, bed so comfortable, and the location can not be beat. Defintiely recommend it to anyone visiting the Big Apple!
“Great Hotel, would stay again!”
Staff was super friendly, rooms were really modern and VERY clean! Really small, but big enough for what you need it for and lots of storage under the bed. Pool and Sauna were really nice. Awesome location, a block off Times Square and within walking distance of a lot of attractions. Would definitly stay here again and recommend to friends!
“Clean hotel with great location.”
The hotel was clean and in a great location. The room was small and there was no place for hanging clothes or suitcases. Bed was comfortable and room was quiet. I would return to this hotel but would upgrade to a larger room.
“Location, Location, Location”
The Room Mate Grace Hotel doesn't waste money on frills but spends it where it counts. No bell hop, no free breakfast, no coffee maker in the room. But there is a fantastic pool, an exercise room with sauna, free wireless, thick towels, and a free "apple a day"! The room was small but we knew that going in. We found the layout to be convenient, with great use of space. The staff was very friendly and helpful, and there were desk people there 24 hours a day. But the location was the best. To the left of the hotel's front door is a super deli! It had hot and cold breakfast and lunch bars, drinks, baked goods, beer and wine. To the right of the hotel's front door was Duffy Square and the theaters - just a half block's walk. And there were three solid restaurants nearby - one on each side and one across the street. On our next Broadway show vacation, we will definitely stay at the Room Mate Grace!
“Great Location+Great Staff+Great Hotel=Very Happy Customer!”
My husband and I recently stayed at Room Mate Grace in NYC. What a pleasure! Very friendly staff. Room was clean, and comfortable. The shower water pressure was kind of low but I have experienced that in every hotel I've been in, in NYC. So it was not a big deal. Beautiful pool. Morning breakfast was very nice. The decor was very unique, and fun. For being so close to Times Square, I was pleasantly surprised how quite it was. I love being in the Times Square/Theatre District when in NYC, and this was PRIME location! I would definitely return to Room Mate Grace.
“Euro botique in Times Square”
Finding a hotel in NY always comes with a bit of sticker shock, especially if you want to be in the Times Square area...so we do our digging and this time found Room Mate Grace. The location was perfect for our three nights of theatre, also convenient to several subway lines and walking distance to many sights including Central Park and Rockefeller Center. The first thing we noticed when walking in the door was the very modern feel, followed by the 4 or 5 different languages being spoken in the lobby. This gem of a hotel seems to have much more of a following with a foreign born crowd. Call it undiscovered in the US. The rooms were small, but very comfortable and cozy...you didn't feel cramped at all. All of the basic amenities were available in the room...and if you needed anything else in the lobby. We particularly liked the fresh apples available by the entrance every day. Of note, this might not be the place I would take my parents (in their 70s). The rooms would be tight for them and the modern feel would be a bit off for their tastes. Also of note on the Thursday we were there the small pool area near the elevators on the lobby level had a nightclub type pool party that was really pumping. Every night we had to show our door key to get waved in the hotel past the "club" line going into the bar/pool area. We took a late night dip (pool open 24hrs) and enjoyed the DJ mixing and drinks ordered from the pool. Would certainly stay again.
“Will visit again”
The room is perfect for two persons, and the decoration is very updated and modern. It is also right next to the Time Square and Broadway, so if possible I would definitely visit again for New Year.
“Initial room a complete disaster - in the middle of a disco”
I got to the hotel at 3 in the morning and the room I got for five nights was a complete disaster, noisy, noisy and noisy. It was like being in the middle of the bar and from Thursday the they were organizing disco parties. Fortunately, after a complain when it was impossible to sleep due to the DJ efforts the staff at reception accepted to change us to a higher floor. We moved from the 3rd floor to the 15th floor. Recommendation, do no accept any room lower than the 8th floor specially during weekends. You would regret it all night.
“In the heart of Times Square...but quiet at night!”
This was my second stay with Room Mate Grace. We can walk to anywhere we wanted to go from here (Times Square, Gershwin Theater, NBC Studio, Central Park, Ray's Pizza, American Girl Store, and subways). A Starbucks across the street, friendly staff, a clean room and my favorite place to stay in the city. Can't wait to go back!
