The Neo-Gothic brick-and-stone Salisbury Hotel, opened in 1931, is still owned by the Calvary Baptist Church, which occupies the building's first five floors. Church operations are entirely separate, although it's not uncommon to hear snatches of the church choir at practice from the hotel's lobby.
The location of this New York City hotel is a top advantage: Carnegie Hall is across the street, and many guests enjoy walking from the hotel to Central Park, Fifth Avenue shops, and Radio City Music Hall.
Wireless Internet access (surcharge) throughout the hotel is an added convenience. Fitness-minded guests also have access to a health club across the street (surcharge).
This hotel is entirely smoke-free.
Rooms
This Midtown New York hotel offers generously proportioned guestrooms and suites, some with views of 57th Street. All have desks with ergonomic chairs, walk-in closets, and in-room safes. Spacious bathrooms come with shower/tub combinations and Gilchrist & Soames bath products.

Additional amenities include wireless Internet access (surcharge), phones with voice mail, flat-panel TVs with cable channels, complimentary New York magazines, and windows that open.
All guestrooms and suites are nonsmoking.

“Perfect location for all the young artist auditions!”
This hotel is probably not getting the greatest ratings because the building is hold, however, we were very comfortable and had everything we needed. They accidentally messed up our reservation and expected us out a day earlier which was kind of frustrating, but in the end they fixed it all and it was fine.
“Impressed”
For the price, location and value, I would recommend this hotel to friends and family - for business or pleasure.
“Great for one night stay”
The best part about Salisbury Hotel was the size of the hotel room! The room was larger than most NYC apartments. The hotel definitely shows its age - bathroom was clean but looked dingy. Rooms could use upgrading. Staff was not overly friendly but not rude. Location was great - especially for shopping. Disappointed to find out continental breakfast was not complimentary. I would suggest this hotel to someone for a short stay at a reasonable price.
“High praise for service and the Housekeeping department!”
Location is wonderful - easy walking distance to 5th Avenue, Rockefeller Center and Radio City, central park. This hotel is old, decor and bathroom outdated, but the rooms are large and clean and the bathroom bright. Service at the front desk was good and fast. The people in Housekeeping and management were wonderful. I had lost my hearing aid but didn't realize till on the train home, so called the hotel and was put through to Housekeeping. They went back to that room and searched high and low and finally found it wedged inbetween bed and nightstand. They then mailed it to me. The main negative is time it takes for an elevator to arrive - very slow! Also the toiletries did not include shampoo or conditioner which have come to count on at hotels.
“Convenience location to shopping.”
Just off 5th avenue and convenient to bus system.
“Ok for a place to sleep”
Stay here if you only need a clean place to spend the night. They wouldnt hail a taxi in the rain for us. No access to coffee in the morning.
“Looking to Stay Near Carnegie - a good choice”
My husband recently stayed at the Salisbury as we had meetings in NYC and were attending a concert at Carnegie Hall. I wanted a good hotel in this area but didn't want to pay the highest prices for one night. If you're looking for uber chic hotel decor this is not the place to go but aside from the lobby (which was a bit lax for NYC) the rooms were nice, the sheets were high caliber, and the room was great. I had booked a King and was upgraded to a suite when they ran out of single rooms. This was the biggest hotel room I've had the pleasure of staying in in NYC. Too bad I didn't have more time to take advantage. Great location for Carnegie, close to Columbus Circle, and easy to get to from different locations.
“Good value”
The hotel is dated and in need of some modernizing. One of the elevators was not working the first three days we were there. This caused some inconvenience, but the staff was helpful in using the freight elevator and allowing us use of the service elevator. The location is great and the price is competitive for what you get.
“Great service staff! Quite loud, given double beds when reserved a king, good location”
This hotel had a great service staff! They helped us with all of our needs and were very nice. Unfortunately only one elevator was working so we often took the stairs. There was also noise outside from construction going on in the early mornings. It is fine if you are an early riser. The only real complaint I had was that we reserved a king bed through Expedia and were given a room with two double beds. We were too tired to bother with trying to get it changed. The rooms are of good size, ours was a bit dated but from what I understand they are undergoing renovations.
“Nice Location, lacking a lot.”
Rather outdated. In much need of repairs. Location was good, but staff at times were rude.
