Great location & outstanding service!

We stayed at Tryp in Manhattan because we were going to see the band Rocket from the Crypt in Brooklyn. Tryp was clean and conveniently located near Times Square, Empire State Building, etc. Alphonzo the concierge was AWESOME! He helped us find a route on the subway that got us right to the concert venue. Keep in mind Google Maps had us going an indirect route only because it was based on walking distance of the closest subway station. Alphonzo advised us to walk to a further station to get a more direct route with fewer transfers. Google is nice, but a life long New Yorker is far superior.

Far from 4 and a half star quality

Disappointing expected a nice comfortable stay but was definitely underwhelmed. While it's close to everything that's about the only reason I'd stay there. Booked a "1 king or 1 queen" room and we were given 2 double beds. Overall was only ok.

Very modern, clean hotel.

The hotel was in the garment district, which was very convenient since that was the area I wanted to visit. However, it is a few blocks' walk to Times Square, so that is a little misleading. It is close to Penn Station and other subway stations. There are plenty of places to eat nearby. We had a room with a king size bed. The room was spacious enough, and very clean. The bed was very comfortable. The room facitlities were very good. There was a keurig coffee machine. The bathroom was very modern and clean, plenty of bodywash, shampoo and conditioner in the dispensers. Would highly recommend.

Nearly faultless, excellent hotel.

Pros: The bed is huge and comfy, nice big modern HDTV on the wall. Cleaned every day it seemed, always spotless.
Cons: Unfortunate amount of noise coming through a door to a connecting room, not sure why we were given this room.
Location: Times Square and restaurants, Heralds Square 34st nearby for most subway connections.
We enjoyed a three night stay in this hotel and were very please overall. Fantastic location with the Penn station right next door which wasn't that useful for down town sights but luckily Heralds Square 34st was just a few blocks away past Macy's and that had the NQR lines. It was freezing in NYC when went, so a simply coat hook would have been nice, rather than putting it away in the wardrobe every time. We were given a room with a connecting door obviously meant for families. On the last night some noisy people got in late and we could hear a bit too much from them under the door.

Good hotel but not in the greatest locations. Lots of rats around there.

A hotel room in NYC with space!

Posted Mar 24, 2014
Pros: Convenience. Size and condition of the room.
Cons: Not a lot of atmosphere in the lobby - but then that was not what we were looking for
Location: A short walk from Penn Station, the theater district, and all subway lines.
A last minute find. We wanted a convenient place near Penn Station and the subway. Got a lot more than we expected, for a good price. Nicest and largest hotel room we've ever found in New York. Would definitely stay there again.

Great location-good modern styling

Posted Mar 21, 2014
Pros: Location, modern styling, staff's courtesy and friendliness, room's spaciousness.
Cons: 1. A hotel of this caliber should have real glasses and not styrofoam cups. 2. Modern wall sculptures or tapestries rather than blank walls.
Location: See above plus in walking distance of Times Square.
I chose this hotel because of proximity to Penn Station. The service was excellent. they let me check in to an upgraded room at 11:15AM and depart at 12:30PM (normal check-in 3:00PM, normal check-out 12noon). The hotel had a very modern feel to it and seemed to have either been recently renovated or perhaps have been a new hotel altogether. The staff was professional and helpful throughout my stay.

A very great stay--walking distance to MSG.

Posted Mar 18, 2014
Pros: size of room. cleanliness!!!
Location: 5-10 minute walk to MSG, Penn Station, Macys, and NJ Path system. Also, 10 - 15 walk to Times Square. Not many restaurants near by.
Very clean and contemporary rooms. Very well managed. Friendly staff. The rooms were nice size, spacious by NYC standards. Very comfortable beds. Completely updated and new interiors. I would stay there again without hesitation. A short 5-10 walk to MSG and Penn Station.

Convenient

It was close to everything. Room was smaller than anticipated. It was somewhat noisy. But I would stay there again.

Great location, good value

Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: It was convenient to have a tapas bar right in the lobby. Very nice fixtures in the rooms, great cable channels, nice street view from our room.
Cons: There was NO sleeping in the mornings due to what sounded like the cleaning staff constantly banging doors, talking, and cleaning.
Over all we enjoyed our stay here; great location convenient to Penn Station and very nice rooms. However, we could never get any sleep in the mornings due to the sound of doors constantly banging on our floor (sounded like the cleaning staff). We were also excited about the tapas bar but were disappointed with the slow service and really mediocre food and cocktails. For NYC hotel prices, this place was definitely a great value, but DON'T bother with the restaurant or bar. It was not worth the expensive prices.
