Property Amenities
This landmark Art Deco building is one block from United Nations Headquarters in a relatively quiet residential area of Midtown Manhattan's East Side. Fifth Avenue and Rockefeller Center are six blocks away. Greek symbols denoting the building's 1929 origins as a house for newly graduated sorority women can be spotted on its decorative façade.
Beekman Tower Hotel offers a 26th-floor restaurant with two outdoor dining terraces affording spectacular views of New York City and the East River. The complimentary fitness center provides saunas. Meeting and banquet facilities include a 1,450-square-foot ballroom filled with natural light. The hotel welcomes pets.
Rooms
This 26-story New York hotel offers 173 studios and suites, all with wireless Internet access (surcharge). Generously proportioned accommodations, ranging from 300 square feet to 1,100 square feet, reflect the building's origins as apartment-style housing for sorority women. Views are of the city or surrounding buildings; some overlook the East River. Decor includes warm pastel pinks, yellows, and greens, complemented by dark-wood furnishings and abundant natural light.
Some rooms have kitchenettes with dining counters, four-burner stoves, microwaves, and mini-refrigerators. Others are outfitted with full kitchens: full-sized refrigerators, stoves with ovens, microwaves, cookware, dishes, counter space, and dishwashers. Most rooms have sleeper sofas. Most bathrooms are shower only.

“good value”
Excellent location in a very nice neighborhood although a 10 minute walk to the eastside subway (4,5,and 6 trains). Just north of the UN, and within easy walking distance of Grand Central Station and Rockefeller Center. The Theater District is directly west of the hotel, but a good 20 minute walk. We had a large one bedroom suite with one and one half baths and nice views. Loved having so much space in a NYC hotel room. The hotel staff are very friendly, and the hotel has a charming roof-top bar with great views of the midtown Manhattan skyline and the East River. The elevators can get congested when the staff is cleaning the rooms during morning hours, and the hotel gym is very small. Excellent value, but with one significant negative - the rooms and public spaces are long over-due for a renovation. Overall a nice place to stay with room to spread out as long as you're ok with dated room decor in need of renovation.
“Beekman a nice surprise”
The Beekman was a nice surprise. Bed was great, room/suite large, clean with great shower. Friendly and very helpful staff. Elevators were fast. Great views from 26th floor restaurant. Good service in restaurant, too. The only issues were the carpet in my reoom needed to be replaced, and the maintenance team took 3 trips to my room to replace a battery in the safe. As for location i wanted to be away from the midtown madness --but still be walking distance close. Lots of taxi's available, too.
“"Needs to be updated"”
"Needs to be updated" Ancient furniture and carpet and room temp. control was pitiful.Location and service were excellent and it was clean.
“I had a good time”
I staied in a room at 2nd floor with some disturbing noise at night and where there was only a couple bad and I was with just a girl friend of mine. We needed sleeping toghether but it was not a great problem. First Avenue is a little distant, but I am satisfied with the service and most part of everything
“No heat at the Beekman”
I arrived in New York from London with a bad cold and in need of some warmth to stave off my sniffles as well as the chilly 50 degree weather. My room at the Beekman was 63 degrees when I entered with both AC units going full blast. I tried repeatedly to switch to heat with no success. When I contacted maintenance about the issue, they told me that the heating system for the hotel won't be switched over until later in the month. had I not already prepaid for the room I would have looked elsewhere. Instead, I spent two frigid nights wearing layers of clothes and bundled in two meager hotel blankets as I tried to sleep. This cooling/heating policy should be included in their online promotional material. Be sure to ask before you book.
“Very satisfied and lots of space”
We went to NYC for the US Open and the weather cooperated to make for a great trip. Our stay at the Beekman Tower was very pleasant and the staff was very responsive to our requests. The space was very large for the 3 of us and we used the kitchen and dining table a lot. I would recommend for other families needing to stay for a few days without breaking the bank.
“Needs work”
We stayed at this hotel before, and liked the spaciousness of the rooms and the location. This time, we stayed in the adjoining building two doors down and the whole building needs work. In fairness, work is commencing on this building. The bathroom, in particular, in our suite needs extensive renovation. However, the bed was comfy and the whole unit was quiet (a plus for NYC).
“Very Grateful”
We cannot give enough thanks to the Beekman staff and the help that they gave us. My husband suffered a concussion while on a tour, the staff helped us get the EMT's in a timely fashion and accommodated us in every request. They made sure that I knew that they were at my disposal to help in any manner assuring me that my husband was in the best hospital in NYC. When we needed to stay an extra day in order for my husband to recuperate they made all the needed arrangements as well as getting a car service to take us to the airport. When the AC unit in our suite broke they sent some one to repair it within half an hour. The hotel is charming, it is not new but the staff, nice neighborhood and convientient location make up for that. The food at Top of the Tower is fantastic. Our heart felt thanks to the Beekman staff. We will recommend this hotel to any friends visiting NY and if we ever need to stay in NYC again it well definately be at the Beekman.
“Brendan and Roni, enjoyed our stay at The Beekman.”
We read many of the reviews on The Beekman before we booked it and although people were critical of the age of the hotel and that the furniture and such were old, we concluded that so is our 1927 house, same age as the hotel as is some of our furniture. We were more interested in the conveinient location of the hotel and the fact that we had a kitchen, living/dining room, bedroom and bathroom all very roomy and comforable. The East tower has only broadband cable, not wireless and there is a $12 charge. Paking is $65/night but if you go on line as we did, we printed coupons for Quik Parking at 575 Lexington St at $35/night. We left the car and used Taxi's and walked. Overal it was great and when the 15 year old daughter and 10 year old son did'nt complain, that itself speaks volumes.
“Nice but no amenities”
We had a great stay at the Beekman Tower but were disappointed in the lack of amenities: no breakfast (unless we wanted to pay for it) and no internet (again, unless we wanted to pay for it). When we inquired about the internet we learned not only does it cost $12.95/24 hours, we also had to supply the cord! We didn't have a cord with us, figuring the hotel would have wireless, so we didn't even use the internet service.
