Beautiful hotel room

Posted Jul 23, 2014
Pros: The room was very spacious and beautifully furnished
Cons: Nothing - it's a first class hotel where you expect things to be pricey
Location: A block from Central Park with the Met and Guggenheim within walking distance. Close to subway.
The room was very comfortable and large. Staff were amenable, although not particularly friendly. A beautiful hotel if you want first class amenities and are not worried about the price.

WOW

I stayed 8 days at the Carlyle, a fabulous hotel very close to the Whitney, Met and Guggenheim Museums, as well as Central Park. The staff was top notch, my room was beautiful and the service was great! Comfy slippers, a nice robe, chocolates, and a turned down bed were waiting every night. My room was spotless, bathtub was jetted, crazy strong water pressure in the shower, fully stocked fridge, an easy to use safe, etc. The Kiehl's bath products were fantastic--the first time I've ever used the hotel stuff. Usually it's the cheap stuff, but Kiehl's is excellent quality. The best part was the elevator operators--super friendly and fun to talk with. I'd definitely stay here again! Super convenient to major designer shopping on Madison Ave, lower priced shops and restaurants on Lexington, 2nd and 3rd Aves. Subway station three blocks away at 77th and Lexington. The area is very safe and convenient.

Fantastic location if you like Central park!

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: The bathroom in our hotel was amazing and they stock high-end toiletries :D
Cons: We had a loud family with several kids who liked to run around the halls at 7am...we told the hotel and it was taken care of promptly.
Location: Central park, high end shops, close to the museum mile. Downside: limited coffee shops in that area..
We had an absolutely fantastic stay, the staff are wonderful and bend over backwards to make you feel comfortable and enhance your hotel experience.

Very classic, quiet and elegant. Good staff. Not convenient location at all. Old rooms, old bathrooms, for the price I would prefer something more modern in a better location.

Nice hotel close to Central Park.

A good experience, the hotel is very high end. Definately out of our league, but for someone who enjoys dressing up for the role of a New Yorker. On a side note, a strict dress code exists to enter the hotel bar. Last, on our bill, we found a $200 over charge on our account. Could have been a honest mistake, who knows?

On Monopoly Board Best Location

Posted Jul 11, 2014
Pros: The details. Elevator man, always staff available.
Cons: Perhaps change the carpets in the rooms, had a bit of an old smell. But the hotel is an older hotel.
Location: Location excellent, Central Park and high end shopping.
We started in New York City, traveled from Northern California on College tours. I was with my 17 year old son. The location was top notch. Very classy upper end neighborhood. We liked the old charm feel of the hotel. The rooms were good size, there was not much of a view, but walking distance to Central Park. Staying at a 5 star hotel the prices reflected this. Breakfast was 50.00 for one person, but the service was empeciable. If you needed a taxi the doorman would waive your taxi. The bed was comfortable and linens great. There were plenty of places to walk to to get a less expensive meal and subway stop about one block away.
