Great Hotel Getaway for couples.
Posted Jan 10, 2013
Pros: Location, friendly staff, Spa and good restaurant inside and close by
Cons: not enough lighting and space to put your items away
Location: the location is close to all the theatres and shopping areas
The Hotel is first class and close to everything Staff are excellent and look after you very well. Excellent restaurant downstairs and very comfortable beds and pillows. However, the bedroom, a luxury twin, was quite dark with a very small window. The bathroom was great and luxurious, but hardly any shelves to put your toiletries away. The Hotel throughout is on the dark side, probably to keep with the image of having been the Lamb's Club. I would definitely recommend it, if you do not mind the lack of lighting. Do not fly back on Sunday during Spring/Summer as there are parades every Sunday and the whole of Manhattan is blocked and no taxis are available. We had to get a private car to get to JFK airport. Apart from the cost, it took us 2 hours!

Good location

Pros: Location can't be beat. Staff very attentive and friendly
Cons: Very uncomfortable mattress. Difficult to get in and out of shower-had to climb into bathtub. Not a restful sleep unfortunately due to mattress.
Location: Very close to Times Square. Behind toys r u store. Very convenient to tourist attractions. Subway close by. Great location.
Great location off of Times Square. Beds should be reassessed as very low to ground making it difficult to get up from especially if I have back problems. Felt like u were sleeping on floor. Didn't feel like a box spring was under. Shower was difficult to get in and out of especially if your back was hurting from sleeping on bed. Had to step over bath tub side which was wider than your one at home. Rain shower head was very nice though during your shower bath tub drain not draining fast enough so that u were standing in at least 2 inches of water while showering. Lots of buttons on control box to push for lighting and opening and shutting curtains though it wouldn't work to open drapes that way. Had to open up drapes the old fashion way by getting up. They really could have done without these gadgets and concentrated on better mattresses. Spent a lot of money on this room and did not feel rested.

A luxury GEM in NY
Posted Jan 27, 2013
Exceptional location 1 block from Times Square and Theaters. Outstanding room and amenties. High end quality throughout in fixtures, linens and bathrooms are over the top. The staff from Michael at the front door, to Elena at reception and out butler Brandon were outstanding. We have done several 5 star hotels in NY and this is the one we will return to again. This is very much a couples hotel.

Excellent hotel. Beautiful rooms with everything you need. Hotel staff are professional, friendly and make your stay a real pleasure. Highly recommend. The location directly off Time Square is a great added bonus.

NIce Boutique Hotel in Time Square

Pros: The live music and fireplace in the restaurant The concierge staff were very helpful
Cons: The filter coffee machine was out of place for such a modern room with state of the art fittings
Location: Right in Times Square, great location!
The hotel is in a great location near Time Square. It has a great atmosphere and most of the staff are great. However, we arrived late and the front doors were difficult to open as there was no doorman at that time of the day to help us with the luggage. I would have appreciated a coffee and tea facility in the room. It took the staff 3 calls to get a kettle to the room.

Great for a Romantic Trip

Pros: Customer Service, Personal Butler Brandon, Room Comfort, Food, Wednesday Jazz night in the bar.
Cons: Bathroom a little small in the Grand Deluxe Room we stayed. No views.
Location: Excellent midtown location but hotel remains calm and quiet
lovely art deco hotel in midtown although so quiet you'd never think Times Square was a 60 second walk away. Rooms are well decorated and nice big bed but also compact. Customer Service is second to none and they cannot do enough for you. breakfast and dinner in the Lambs Clubs was very nice too. would return.

a central historic hotel with drawbacks
Posted Jan 30, 2013
Pros: ambience, history
Cons: felt we were little fish in the pond
Location: fantastic
beautiful hotel but the room was very noisy from the heating ducts outside and the room next door was linked by a door so every sound could be heard. I asked to be moved but was told that the hotel was fully booked. So basically nothing happened, we packed our cases and waited but realised that we were wasting our time.

Luxury but at a price
Posted Jan 22, 2013
This is a fabulous place to stay, the hotel and rooms are magnificent, the only thing let our experience down was a non disclosed policy that forced are credit card to have a $200 holding limit, which at 7 nights put a whopping $1400 against our credit card. I didn't find this out till later that evening when I could not use the card as it had maxed out our limit. Fortunately I had other funds, but you can imagine the embarrassment caused. When confronting the hotel, they dismissed it, gave a feeble excuse that they could talk with management to arrange something, but it would take 10 days to lift the hold on the card, which was of little use to us. We never saw the policy from Expedia, The Chatwal staff, management or their website, but were forced to pay irrespective of. Nothing was done to relieve the situation, no offer of a complimentary meal, not even a glass of wine, so as much as it is a lovely hotel I will not be returning for the embarrassment caused.

For people wanting style and location
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Pros: Rooms were superbly decorated
Cons: Nothing
Location: Few hundred yards from Time Square and the theatre district
Fantastic and stylish and near to Time Square and the Theatre district. We went on a guided tour of New York and of the 8 restaurants our guide recommended 6 of them were within a short walk of the hotel. The hotel has great bathrooms, the only thing is to ensure that if you want a bath you make this clear on request. Staff very friendly and helpful.
