Older hotel, but nice!

Posted Jun 9, 2014
This hotel was in older building, but was in decent shape. Reasonably close to all the action and relatively quite. The room we were placed in had an issue with the ac. Maintenance engineer was sent and it was fixed, but broke during night. We were given an upgraded room for trouble and all was well the rest of trip. Had a great experience staying here. Staff was exceptional!

Good hotel, very well located.

Pros: They gave us a suite, which was really big and confortable
Cons: cleanliness of the bathroom
Location: very well located
2 problems: The bathroom smelled of urine (had to clean the floor near the WC, with wet tissue). Rooms with no curtains. Either you had to pull down the roller (too dark) or you pull it up and anybody could peek into the room.

Comfortable hotel and close everything we needed.

Pros: Central location.
Cons: TV and tub drain.
Location: Grand Central Station, Bryant Park, Rock Center, Radio City, Times Square, Theatres, and numerous Restraurants in walking distance.
The staff was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. The rooms were larger than most hotels we've stayed when in NYC. The bed was comfortable. The TV reception and remote was poor, but not a big concern. The shower was in need of attention because water drained slowly, resulting in ankle deep pounding. Yukky, but we managed.

Room worn out, no coffee maker, bad isolated wall as you heard the noise from street and from the coridoor or the room next door. Overall not good for sleeping

Location is great! Sleep, not so great.

Pros: Location -easy walk to Grand Central terminal, Bryant Park, and Times Square.
Cons: The noise!
Location: Nice neighborhood. Restaurants and shopping are conveniently located within walking distance.
The hotel staff were welcoming and the room was large by NYC standards. The bed and pillows were comfortable and the room was very clean. We were happy with the price and location. The down side to this hotel was the noise. We stayed on the 6th floor and the street noise was so loud that it sounded as if the windows were open. In addition, the hotel heat comes from an old radiator which made a loud banging noise throughout the night. We also couldn't control the temperature. I guess that's set by the hotel. We were unable to get a sound night's sleep during our 3 night stay. We spoke to other guests in the elevator that had a similar experience. Overall, I would have rated this hotel much higher if I could have gotten some sleep. I have stayed in different parts of the city during previous visits and never experienced this level of noise inside the room. I would only stay here again in the summer when the radiators aren't in use and if I could get a room off the street.

Good stay. Every place has pros/and cons

My overall stay at St. Giles The Court was good. It was easy to get too. As per most hotels they have their pros and cons. As per the pros, it was only 10-15 minutes away from Times Square, the staff was very nice except for at check in the woman was like this is a non smoking facility in a firm voice. I actually chose to have non smoking. Then we get to the room it was nice, it looked like a old studio apartment. It was cool. There were no wash clothes, no shower cap, and the phone didnt work to contact the front desk. I will say the bed was amazing, very comfortable. Otherwise everything else was great. It was a good stay.
