Old school charm, great value and perfect location
Posted Jan 16, 2013
Pros: Location, lobby, gym, extra space of the suite
Cons: Old carpets in the hallways, slow lifts, small bathroom
Location: Perfect for any traveller wanting to see the sights of NYC
The Edison may be old, but it has an old school charm to it. Although small (like most NYC hotels), the rooms were clean and the staff were friendly. The location is perfect for any tourists, as its half a block from times square and 10-15 minutes walk from a lot of attractions. No rooms have a view of anything decent, so ask for a room on the back of the hotel, as the road on the front can be noisy, especially if there are roadworks at night.

Pros: Location and Samantha one of the receptionist very helpful and friendly cant say the Same about some of the other staff.
Cons: The radiator in the room made noise all the time, but it wasn't that bad.
Location: If you walk out of the main entrance and turn left Times Square is right in front of you.
It was our first time in New York and we loved it!!!! I would defiantly book this hotel again due to its location and rooms.there is also a cafe, gift shop and bar in the hotel.for the location the hotel is cheap price wise compare to other acomadations in Times Square.the maids kept our room spotless every day.and Samantha one of the receptionist gave us a* service all the time.thank you. we had the best holiday ever!! We will defiantly book this hotel again.tay and Pem.

Less expensive hotel close to Times Square

This is the third time we've stayed at the Edison. While it's not elegant or full of amenities, it always provided an affordable and comfortable place to stay in the middle of the theatre district. It's close to many great restaurants, Birdland jazz, and their own music in their bar and restaurant. The Edison Cafe gives a convenient and fast breakfast. You pay extra for Internet access, the room didn't have a microwave or refrigerator, but I'd stay there again anytime.

Great place to stay
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Close proximity to attractions and great staff
Cons: Leaky tub faucet
The Edison is half a block from Times Square and within close walking distance from most Broadway shows. It's an older hotel with several renovated floors. We stayed in the older part of the hotel and were perfectly comfortable! Small rooms but the staff is very helpful and nice. This was my second time to stay there and would definitely stay there again!

Satisfactory hotel for short visits.
Posted Jan 15, 2013
Pros: Great location, within walking distance of Times Square & Broadway
Cons: Lack of free access to wifi within the hotel
Although I had a satisfactory stay at the Edison hotel, I was disappointed that I was charged separately for Wi Fi within the hotel room as well as no access to a fridge or microwave which decreased the level of comfort I experienced during my stay. I would recommend offering these services to future customers.

Light sleepers beware

Pros: near to attractions in safe location
Cons: Street works in the middle of the nice. Toilet is very low.
Location: Busy area with many restaurants and lots to do in the evenings.
From the start the staff seemed eager to help make our stay pleasant. The reception staff was pleasant and attentive from the beginning of our stay to the end. There was no waiting for staff to finish conversations while we waited for help. We were pleased with the level of security for the hotel. The inside of the hotel was quiet. The cleaning staff were observant and took good care in their jobs. They were pleasant to talk to when met in the hallway indicating they were not unhappy in their job. The beds were comfortable, the room atmosphere cool. The let down of the stay was the noise from outside of jackhammers at 2 a.m. which only abated on the weekend. It's hard to imagine a city dependent on tourists not taking more care of them! The plumbing was inhibited by other guests using their showers. The only other irritation was that there was no coffee making facilities in the room.
