1st room was not acceptable -- no view. We were then changed to a much better room.

Old world hotel that has been nicely updated.

Stayed nine nights. Terrific location in Times Square, easy walk to shows, shopping and Central Park. Room was small but extremely clean and comfortable mattress. I asked for a quiet room and was given one. Bathroom looked like it had recently been renovated. Large bowl set on counter type sink. Ample closet space. Also, umbrella in closet was a nice touch for three rainy days!

Great location but be cautious

PROS Great location They make an attempt at security by checking room key for elevator access Air conditioning in room Two large comfortable beds Friendly helpful staff (not a given in NYC) CONS They block your cellular service so you have to buy wifi service VERY VERY noisy (more than traditional NYC honking and nightlife) There's a rubbish transfer station across the street that unloaded trucks until nearly 2am week nights ... sleeping impossible Room keys not really checked ... can get by with any plastic card Also be careful when holding card out to show attendant - we saw guests lose key down the large gap between elevator door and floor.

Loved the visit!

Edison Hotel was lovely. The room we booked was not what we got though. The staff had not held the right room. No refrigerator but that was rectified. Hotel was clean and adequate and perfectly positioned for access to Times Square, Theatre District and Central Park. Staff were very nice.

Do not stay at this hotel.

Pros: NOTHING
Cons: EVERYTHING
Location: Its NYC there is always something to do.
After waiting nearly 30 minutes to check in due to the back up at the front desk we were given our room key. we went up to the floor and the 1st thing we see is all the carpet seams in the corridor were duct taped together. once we got in the room things only got worse. The room was filthy. we complained and were given a room "on one of the renovated floors" the only thing that is different between the two floors, is they changed the carpet so no visible duct tape and they painted the walls. the room was a bit cleaner than the 1st room but not much cleaner. By this point we had reached our limits and checked into the W which is a 1/2 a block east of the edison. When we told the manager we were checking out, he then told us that they had a cancellation and he could now put us in a suite. We could not help but wonder why there was a last second cancellation, others had to been dealing with the same things we were dealing with. By this point there was no way were staying at this hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!

Great Value

Pros: Location, and the reception area.
Cons: Hot water available at all hours. The furniture in our room was definitely dated, which didn't worry us practical people.
Location: Times Square!
Our room was cosy but fine for the fantastic location. Our only gripe was that there never seemed to be hot water at the end of the day - fine if you like to shower in the morning. Staff were generally helpful.

Best Location!

Location is unbeatable! Hotel decor is outdated, but I think they are working on it, as they are offering signature rooms. We stayed at a classic luxe room 705. Room was nice, wish it had curtains it was not dark enough. Only big con was the bathroom, overall it was clean, however the bathtub drain was old/disgusting, we shower with flip flops on. Staff was friendly. We had breakfast at the Café and it was really good!
