Great hotel, great location, great staff

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Art deco style, friendly and helpful staff at all levels. Proximity to Times Square.
Cons: Tea and coffee making facilities in the room
Location: This hotel is at the centre of everything, a 60 second walk to Times Square, 10 minute walk to 5th Ave, 15 minute walk to the Rockerfeller Centre.
Pity there was no tea or coffee making facilities in the room and I wish someone had told me at the start of the holiday that you can get free wifi access on the 2nd floor Business Centre which would have saved me finding out on my last day. My room was a little shabby but very clean and the all the staff were extremely helpful.

Tired and worn

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: The Lobby
The photos online--as always-- don't tell the real story. The rooms look both out-of-date and just worn out. The bathroom, in particular--while basically clean-- needed a bit of work: too many layers of paint, a repainted bathtub, etc. Overall, the place needs to be renovated, though that may mitigate against the moderate prices.

Great Location, Friendly Staff

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Staff was friendly and verified who went up the elevators for safety. Check in/out not a problem at all and they held luggage in a room until flight
Cons: The pull out bed in the Classic suite was not very comfortable for an adult to sleep on. A queen or double bed could of fit in the room.
Location: Location was excellent for night visits to Time Square. Lots of shopping close by.
There were 7 in our party and we reserved two types of rooms and unfortunately they were on the 3rd and 11th floors. Third floor was a bit noisy facing 47th street due to theater was there and street noise. Eleventh floor Classic suite was actually bigger than expected but the pull our couch was not very comfortable. The information desk was very busy in the morning so plan a better time to find out info but they were very helpful with info they supplied. We reserved transportation back to Newark that was reasonable and efficient and on time.. Breakfast at the Edison Cafe was good with very fast service and needed because no coffeemaker in hotel room. Rooms were always cleaned when we got back with clean towels and stocked with toiletries. Overall I would stay here again if visited New York for a second time.

Noisy but well located

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Clean room, comfortable beds, and the security at the Lobby, you will notice....
Cons: The bath tub was a little worn out.
Location: Great location, right in the middle of Time Square, and the Theater district, but the restaurants were too crowded in this area.
Do not expect fanciness or luxury, it's serve it purpose. Comfy beds, security, and good location. It can be noisy during the night, but we were so tired at bed time that we do not minded...much. Good for families and big groups, if we go back as a couple, we'll choose other.

Good location for all the sights

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Decor to public area's and nice friendly atmosphere
Cons: Decoration of room we were in. i can't comment on the other rooms
Location: Excellent location just off Times Sq. subway around the corner. most attractions within walking distance. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby
Initially I was a little disappointed as the pictures on the hotel website do not match what you see when you enter. The images give the impression of a much larger interior than it actually is. The room was small although clean and tidy. The room did need a bit of upgrading but was fine for the time we spent in it. the staff were very welcoming and informative. the deocr of the public area's was great - very 1930's. nice area's to relax and a very nice bar ( The Rum House). We had one meal in the cafe which was ok but nothing to write home about. I would recommend this hotel as the value for money was excellent

Nice Place to stay but it's expensive

Posted Apr 22, 2014
Pros: Security level is great. Right in the heart of Time Square.
Cons: Wifi should be free. The carpet needs to be cleaner
Location: Restaurant, shopping.... entertainment ....
This hotel is located at the heart of Time Square. Just a 3 minutes walk to the Time Square. It is very convenience to access shopping mall, restaurant, shows... The security level of this hotel is great. Guest must show room key before entering the elevator to the room. The big problem: Wifi is not free. Guest must pay for the Wifi. Close to $10 per device for 24 hours. The carpet in the room is old and a bit sticky ... Don't expect to drive your own car into the area because the traffic is packed all day

Good location

Like everybody say, next to time sq. if you like this area. Near to theaters. Just walking no longer distance. The hotel IS JUST TO SLEEP. Not to stay there. But, is not for everybody.

Great hotel, great location

Posted Apr 21, 2014
The hotel was perfect Times Square location, pretty much right on Broadway and W 47th st. We had a signature room which was quite good, clean and modern. It wasn't a large room but that's not expected in NY. Great price, I would definitely recommend the Hotel Edison.

Small and dark rooms

Posted Apr 21, 2014
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Much lower prices.
Location: Location OK
My room , that I paid 250 $ a night was very very small and dark. No view at all, view on a wall. Shoking to pay so much for so bad. The room is old and the bathroom also. I would never go again to this hotel
