Convenient Location

Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: Location
Cons: Facilities in the room, like, iron and iron board, better light in the room for senior citizens etc.
Location: Excellent location. Between 5th Ave. and Medison. Lots of shopping with best disigners etc.
Overall very good experience. Friendly staff. Safe area and easy access to public transportation. Parking is very expensive and not easy to find and when public transportation is good, it is convenient.

My daughter and I stayed at the Gotham Hotel for 4 nights. The hotel staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and modern. The location of the hotel was excellent, easy to get to all sights in New York. I would stay at this hotel again.

Focus on the little things

Posted Jul 10, 2014
Pros: Location, Size of Room, Room amenities
Cons: Attention to detail re:guest services and guest experience
Location: E 46th and 5th - it is pretty close to everything - shop, dine, shows, really too much to list.
This is a boutique hotel positioned well within the NYC landscape, close to shopping and other things to do. I was there on business. The Gotham Hotel, is clean, modern looking, and rooms are spacious and contemporary in style. The amenities within the room are what you would expect from a boutique hotel. There is no GYM or fitness facilities. I would also say this is NOT a kid friendly hotel. Dog yes, kids no. Having stayed at MANY boutique hotels, I can you that it is the little things that you have to focus on in order to keep clientele coming back. This hotel has an edge, you get the feeling either you are interrupting the staff or your fly is open. At no point during my stay did I feel like anyone was going to do the little bit extra. Case in point - 94 DEGREES in NYC, back from a walk, go into the dining area "Ten Penny" ask for a pitcher of ice water to take to my room, I am told they cant do that and that I would have to call them by calling room service - are you kidding me - it is a pitcher of water. So while this may seem insignificant or whining by a guest, it is the little things that distinguish a hotel form guests viewing you as a 3 star hotel like Holiday Inn or a 4/5 star hotel worth our patronage. I would recommend this hotel to couples or individual business person. It is close to everything. It is hard to get a cab so plan ahead. If management is reading, I think your hotel has potential, but keep in mind to focus on the little things.

Very nice hotel

Pros: Room Amenities Location
Cons: Training the desk agents on information about the surrounding area (restaurants, activities, etc.)
Location: Times Square is in walking distance
We left the Hotel Pennsylvania (disgusting) to come to this hotel and were very pleased. The room was very clean, they had free Wi-Fi and the staff was really nice. The hotel is in walking distance from everything! We walked to Times Square and to the MTA stations with ease. Unfortunately, the air conditioner in our room went out the last night of our stay after the maintenance man had gone home. But the hotel accommodated us with half off and a free buffet breakfast at the really nice restaurant downstairs. The only other minor issue we had was when we asked the front desk to direct us to a restaurant that was more reasonably priced than the one in the hotel and she sent us to one that was even more expensive. Overall, even with the minor inconvenience of the AC and lack of knowledge of the desk agent, I would recommend this hotel to anyone.
