Location and service

Staff was incredible. Love the location and the hotel was just the perfect size. The Garden, Jimmys and all the activity at the restaurant made for a fun nightlife.

My wife and I had a great time at the hotel. Just what we were looking for. The roof has a great view but the pool is small.

Great Hotel in Soho

Posted Jul 21, 2014
Pros: 1. The rooms and the bathrooms; 2. The service; 3. The friendly staff
Cons: More tea and coffee in the rooms.
Location: Skatepark nearby. Cupping Room for breakfast. Le Bistrot des Amis for dinner.
The hotel is in a good location in Soho, close to the subway and lots of good restaurants. We are a family of 4 with 2 teenagers. The hotel upgraded our sons for free so that their room could be near to ours. All of the staff were very friendly and helpful. The rooms themselves are clean and quite spacious and most conveniently of all, had free Wifi everywhere - unlike most NY hotels. There were also nice touches such as free coffee and pastries in the morning and wine and cheese in the evenings in the lounge area. The rooms are quiet and the bathrooms are luxurious. I would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone visiting NY.

Misled.

Posted Jul 7, 2014
Booked this hotel due to the rooftop pool & rooftop bar. Being Fourth of July evening we would of liked to be on the roof to see the fireworks. Upon booking the reservation through Expedia looking at their website as well as placing a phone call no one mentioned that there was a private event going on that would be closed off to the guests of the hotel. How truly disappointing. We had a reservation at David Burke which we also canceled due to our frustration. The next day went to the pool at the rooftop that is owned by the hotel ( the rooftop bar is a separate entity apparantly) Being that there are only about eight lounge chairs luckily got there early enough to score two. At around 3 PM lifeguard told us that we had to give up our lounge chairs it was now open to the public and they would be smoking cigarettes and drinking everywhere. Public gets presidence over paying guests? We all spoke for to a manager and the manager gave us 2 drinks free. There is a severe miscommunication with the Jimmy rooftop bar and the James Hotel. It effects the guests of the hotel. Will not return.

Best hotel in Soho....

Posted Jul 4, 2014
Pros: bathroom, pool, bars
Cons: pillows
Location: Broadway shopping, dinner in little Italy...all walkable
Pull out of the Holland tunnel and you are there...no driving through the city getting annoyed, Valet will take your car and park it in a garage for you over night for $55. The room is NYC small but functional. The bathroom is awesome with a rain shower and privacy screen. The roof top pool is great for relaxing in the sun and taking a dip. It is closed for hotel guest only until 5. The roof top bar is nice after dark to get a great view of lower Manhattan. The garden bar is a little more laid back with a groovy feel.

Friendly knowledgable staff, roof top bar was really lively not our cup of tea. Was hoping for chilled out cocktail atmosphere. Great hotel though.

Soho but quiet sleep

Great area, good rooftop, quiet room. In the heart of soho with the restaurants, good service staff, fun rooftop bar and garden bar but without all the construction noise to hear for a nights sleep

The James- fantastic

Posted Jun 2, 2014
Really enjoyed the James hotel. chilled and laid-back but really helpful staff and friendly. Nothing too much trouble. comfy beds and bedding and i recommend king size bed. Fresh filtered water in room daily and good facilities coffee tea making in room a blessing! I recommend asking for between floors 8 and 10 as there is a club/bar on the 17th and unless your 20 and enjoy rap music you won't get sleep ( any lower and you will hear all the traffic noise although this is new york and the traffic is part of the excitement and stay???) free coffee in the morning and wine and cheese in the evening!! cool. Great restaurant and bar on ground floor attached to the hotel. Concierge guys and gals were really helpful especially Eric who couldn't help us enough and so friendly. Great location for all lower manhattan, couldn't be better. great stay overall- iLove NY:)

Great place in a great location. THE outdoor space

Posted May 27, 2014
We arrived a little early, room was not ready (granted we made reservation just an hour in advance). The staff was just wonderful, offered immediate alternatives and opted out to just wait. They offered us cocktails while waiting, which was all of 15 minutes. Just very pleasant all around. Valet staff is super friendly too.

First time staying in Soho. Great location. Enjoyed staying in Soho than other times in upper Manhatten. Hotel was wonderful, food, rooftop bar and staff was all excellent. Would highly recommend and would return.
