“5 stars!”
I came to New York by myself for the 1st time and The Jane was very helpful and the area is safe. I was able to walk to most of my favorite places in the city.
“It's great!”
People there are very nice~ Everything is clean and comfortable~
“Beautiful old building”
Like stepping back in time to an era of more gracious living, but with modern plumbing and wi-fi!
“Cheap and clean way to stay in Manhattan”
This is the ultimate way to save money and be in a safe and clean location. The rooms are like a small cabin on a boat. Literally a bit smaller than two twin beds next to one another. Individual HVAC and a flat screen make it comfortable. The option I selected was a single with shared bath. The bathrooms were spotless. They supplied a robe and slippers.
“A gem, though petite on the room.”
This is not my first stay at the property. While it is VERy cozy- it is a very clean hostel style hotel with convenient access to the subway system and local lower manhattan attractions. I came by myself on my last visit and with a friend this time. Both stays were enjoyable. We spent a lot of time out and about as there isn't a lot of "social" space inside the tiny, berth-like rooms. NOT for the claustrophobic, but a lovely property for those who like the dark hardwoods and sturdy construction of a bygone era.
“Delightful Gotham Surprise.”
A most pleasant surprise ! This hotel represented the pinnacle in orderly efficiency, cleanliness, and cheerful, helpful employees. The rooms were exactly the right size for NYC, modeled upon a thirties steamship cabin with the most efficient use of space. The common restrooms and showers were spotless and clean as any operating room. Within easy walking distance of the tube, count me in as a deserter from midtown on my frequent visits to the Metropolitan Opera. With the hotel money saved, I can add a Couple more Met performances per sojourne from Chicago. Boome Brackett, M.D.
“Great hotel for the internationally minded.”
The experience was fabulous. Two-window view of the Hudson in our Captain's Cabin, charming quiet room with a bistro-table/chairs, spacious and modern bathroom. The cafe there is French-Morrocan, incredible and creative food, and is a 'scene' day and night. The bar is a New York event and we enjoyed that most every night. The first night, arriving unexpectedly a day early , we stayed in the miniature "bunk bed" rooms which was a hoot, and added spice to our vacation. Location of the hotel is just wonderful, with access to so much of Greenwich on foot. Staff was friendly. I will return many times.
“Extremely Cool”
Staying at the Jane Hotel is like sailing on a ship or riding in a sleeper car on a train. The rooms are very small but quite stylish, and contain everything you could need including bathrobe and slippers. The service is very friendly and efficient. They are completing rennovations on some floors so there is a little bit of noise but it stops at 5:00pm. I will stay at The Jane again and again.
“Cosy”
Beautifully renovated. Very friendly front-desk staff. Very comfortable rooms and clean communal bathrooms. Have already booked a second visit to this property.
“Delighted!. The Jane exceeded expectations”
I'm a middle aged solo lady traveller and had been a little apprehensive about location and hotel conditions. It turns out that the location is far preferable to the off Times Sq. hotels which I've previously used (relaxing with river side access) and the rooms in better condition. The single is compact but not confiningly so, I loved it. I checked out the suites which are few but comparable to other hotels and I aim to return with husband in tow - and he's a fusspot. I didn't see another person in the spotless shared washroom facilties. Staff were friendly, cafe refreshing. Ask about the guest bikes and enjoy the bohemia.
