The Jewell, what a PERFECT name for this hotel!Posted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Very attentive and helpful front desk staff. Complementary purified water. Location, Location, Location. Nice updated urban feel.
Cons: The AC was either very cool, or very warm. But we didn't think to mention it to the staff. And that is really reaching for something to write.
Location: 51st street west is a reasonable walk to Times Sq, Central Park, Rockefeller center, St Patrick's... And convenient to hop on, hop off bus tours too.
This hotel is absolutely a Jewell! Location right at Rockefeller Center could not be more convenient. The offsite parking is less than a block away and reasonably priced (for NYC). Rooms are moderately sized, but very well designed / laid out. Nice, urban, upscale feel. The front desk staff was very attentive, responsive and helpful. The shower drain was slow the first morning and they had it repaired by the time we got back that evening. The complementary bottles of purified water were a welcome, and unexpected, perk. Mini fridge and micro added to the convenience.

Comfortable room in crowded cityPosted Jun 29, 2015
Pros: Located in Mid Manhattan, NYC. Exercise room was convent. 2nd floor has living room equipped w/excellent coffee machine, computers, TV, chairs, etc.
Cons: Infrastructure. No hot water 1night; no ice buckets 1day, no tv signal 1day. Explain location of various serious services when checking in.
Location: Located in Mid Manhatten w/easy access to subway, bus and taxi cabs. Easy walking to most major attractions..
Staff were courteous and always helpful in solving hotel problems or recommending how to get around the city. They helped make our 2 week stay a very pleasent expéience.

DO NOT STAY HEREPosted Jun 26, 2015
Pros: CHECKING OUT
Cons: EVERYTHING especially CUSTOMER SERVICE. The towels smelled like they were washed in gasoline and mold. I ordered new ones and they still reeked.
Location: Rockefeller, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square, tons of shopping and food within walking distance
Well, where to start...from the moment we arrived, we knew we made a mistake. The customer service was subpar, the parking situation is inconvenient to say the least. To get to my floor I had to take 2 elevators (for the 15th floor, really?). And what's worse is the first elevator takes you from 1-14, the second elevator is from 14-15, and they both take the same amount of time(SLOW)!! What?! Then the room, which is tiny, but expected as it is NYC. The AC would randomly start blowing incredibly hot air into the room, even though it was set to coId. I go to turn on the tv, all channels are black. They have a screen but don't even have OTA channels. I've been to remote places of the world and even they manage to have at least 1 channel. Disappointing, but we're in NYC which should provide plenty of entertainment. So then the main event, what we all (mostly) rent a hotel room for; to sleep. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable. I'd rather have slept outside on a park bench. The mattress felt like a box spring and the sheets they use were of such low quality that they were not breathable at all. This resulted in night sweats followed by extreme cold when you got out of the sheets. To top it all off, throw in some CVS quality pillows and you have a picture of the kind of night you can expect. If this had been a motel, I couldn't complain, but it's not, so I will. I paid a lot of money to stay here for two nights and to be frank, I wouldn't stay there again even if you paid me.

Small but very nice.Posted Jun 25, 2015
Pros: Clean with a great location.
Location: Times Square, Central Park, Stardust Diner, Rockefeller Plaza, very central.
Room feels a bit like a dorm room but it's very well organized, very clean, modern amenities (chilled filtered water on every floor, heat lamp in the bathroom, fridge, microwave) and the location is excellent...not too far from Times Square or Central Park. I would definitely stay there again.

Proximity to subway, Rockefeller center, dining and shopping was perfect. Really helpful and kind staff. Awesome coffee/cappuccino machine in the lounge area. No problems with Wi-Fi speed like some hotels. Rooms were quiet and comfortable. We'll definitely be back.
