Enjoyed our stay at The (historic) Lucerne...

Pros: Architecture and proximity; has a very helpful concierge, great views, in a quiet yet lively, safe part of town.
Cons: Though quiet, the insulation in walls for the bathroom's plumbing left much to be desired; we were awoken throughout the nights due to very loud pipes
Location: Restaurants, shopping, pubs ansurround it~ it's close to all by foot, short cab ride or by subway. Also quick, beautiful stroll across park to museums
The hotel staff were very efficient, accommodating and friendly. The lobby welcomes with lovely ambiance and inviting atmosphere, original architecture and a glass of wine which was very nice.. Room was nice, lovely views. Hotel was over all quiet and classy. Location is Great! Very close-by Central Park's stroll across to eastside Manhattan, (walk past Museum row and to more amazing shopping and more delicious restaurants), the subway seemed very safe and takes you wherever you want to go, (the subways are found close by too, walking distance), location was perfect for our young one who came along this time, the park was a very doable daily visit since so close by...Nice Matin (delicious French restaurant) is connected at the lobby and Coppola's (delicious Italian who also delivers lightening speed) is across the street. Recommend both.

Experience living in New York like a local

Pros: Location and friendly staff
201 W 79th - minutes away from fabulous restaurants and bakeries (Coppella's, Isabella, Levain Bakery, Sara Beth's, Sugar and Plum), 2 blocks from Central Park for daily walks and a block from the subway on 79 or 72 to fast track to any other borough in NY!
