Perfect & convenient hotel on Upper West side!Posted Jul 27, 2014
Entire staff was outstanding in every way. Kira at the front desk gave us excellent inside information on local restaurants. The concierge was very kind and helpful. Rooms were always super clean when we arrived back from sightseeing. Would return in a "New York Minute!"

Lovely hotel on West side of ManhattanPosted Jul 27, 2014
Very nice area, staff really helpful. Request a high floor for a quieter room, assuming you want that in NYC!

Great hotel close to subway & restaurants!Posted Jul 22, 2014
Pros: We loved the location being close to the subway, shops and restaurants. The room size was larger than expected and very clean and comfortable.
Cons: I would recommend having mini-fridges in each room. This would be nice for leftovers, water and drinks.
Location: There are several stores nearby and a lot of great restaurants, including Coppolas, Sugar and Plumm, Brgr and Bagels to Go.
This hotel was in a great location only one block from the subway and very close to restaurants, shopping. museums and Central Park. The room was a lot bigger than I thought it would be. The staff was very helpful with directions and recommendations for restaurants in the area. I traveled with two teenagers and this hotel was very family friendly. The only thing we wished we would have had was a mini-fridge. The ice is located only on the second floor so it is a bit inconvenient. I would highly recommend staying here and would definitely book the Lucerne for a future stay.

Comfortable, friendly hotel in convenient locationPosted Jul 15, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff. Old world charm with modern amenities. Good showers, refrigerator & microwave. Free wi-fi, NY Times, Keurig coffeemaker & good coffee
Cons: My room was not large (I opted for the Standard Queen), but comparable to many higher[priced NY hotels. Larger rooms and suites are available.
Location: Great restaurants, museums, good location on public transportation routes.
I was in NYC to visit friends and take in some museums and good restaurants. I used to live in NY, and like staying on the Upper West Side of Manhattan for the convenience and nice neighborhood atmosphere. The Lucerne is ideally situated a few blocks from Central Park and the Natural History Museum. It is on a crosstown bus route that will take you to the East Side museums including the Metropolitan, the Whitney and Guggenheim, and Madison Avenue shopping. One block west is the Broadway subway line, or buses, that take you directly to Lincoln Center and the midtown Theater District. I always buy a Metro Card and use public transportation, which saves lots of money. I love the variety of restaurants in NY, and the Upper West Side doesn't disappoint. Many cuisines (not chain restaurants) -- superior in selection and price to the midtown Manhattan area. A special treat this visit was a trip uptown to St. John the Divine Cathedral - a must see. Through the rest of 2014, Chinese artist Xu Bing's incredible Phoenix sculptures - two majestic birds 100 and 90 feet long respectively - hang in the nave.
