Location, Comfort, Service

Posted Apr 22, 2015
Pros: Location
Location: Central Park (with museums an very pleasant walk across the park), Zabars, subway a block away.
The Lucerne is located centrally on the Upper West Side, a block from the #1 subway which can take you just about anywhere in Manhattan in a matter of minutes. My particular room was small, but since I was traveling alone that was not a problem. The free wi-fi, excellent range of TV stations (including NBC Sports Network), comfortable bed, and friendly service made my stay most enjoyable.

Nice hotel in a great area!

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: The staff was very warm and attentive.
Cons: It would have been nice to have a bathrobe in the room, but not a big deal. There is a very good umbrella in the closet.
Location: Walking distance to great museums, terrific selection of restaurants and wine bars, interesting shopping, and really great lively NYC energy!
We had a lovely experience at this hotel, primarily because of its location and the friendly, professional and attentive staff. The room was a bit smaller than we had hoped, but nicely appointed and very clean. It was perfect for the duration of our stay (three days) and what we wanted to do over the weekend (museums, shopping, dining, theater, Central Park, and exploring the west side).

Nice hotel close to shops, and restaurants

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Keep the incense to a minimum.
Location: No shortage of great cafes, and restaurants especially on Amsterdam Avenue. About 10-15 minute walk to Central Park. Very close to subway station.
The location of the hotel was great, situated in the Upper West Side and very close to shops, cafes, restaurants, subway station, etc. Facility wise, the smell of incense in the lobby was really overwhelming. The room was small (I don't know if this is due to location but smaller than we thought it would be). There was no coffee maker in the room as advertised. The maids start cleaning very early i.e. 8 am so unless you're there on business, don't expect to sleep in past that time with all the noise. The front desk staff were friendly, and the gym area was very good as well.

Upper West Side charm

Posted Apr 20, 2015
Pros: Location, location, location. Easy to reach by car, located near lots of restaurants and shopping, Central Park is an easy walk, as is Lincoln Center.
Cons: I would not recommend sleeping on the pullout sofa.
Location: Museum of Natural History and Central Park are two blocks in one direction, Broadway is a block in the other direction.
This is my go-to NYC hotel. Not the fanciest, most luxurious, but pleasant, a lot of charm, genuinely friendly staff, good value and great location. I can reach it in just a few minutes from the George Washington Bridge. The residential neighborhood has a wonderful cozy atmosphere.

Location: Lincoln Center, Museum of Natural History, Central park, wonderful restaurants, NY Historical Society
The location was excellent and we will certainly stay again. Wonderful to be near so much that is fun and yet be away from the frenetic activity of midtown.

Wonderful experience!

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Friendly and helpful staff. Nice room, free wi-fi. Easily accessible room, near the elevator but still not noisey.
Cons: It would be nice if the window could open for some air.
Location: Loved the location near Central Park and the museums.
My friend and I had an excellent visit to NYC and enjoyed our stay at The Lucerne. The staff was friendly and the room was clean. The doorman got us a cab in minutes when we asked. And they have free wi-fi! Great location near Central Park and Museum Mile. Overall a great experience.

Return to an Old Friend

Posted Apr 13, 2015
Pros: Location. Two blocks from Central Park. Two subway stops serving multiple lines very close. Reliable, consistent & away from the tourists.
Location: Numerous shopping & restaurant choices. Safe upper west side area for strolling & people watching. Nearby subway stops serving multiple lines.
Returned to the Lucerene in early April to find everything peasant & accommodating as ever. Dropped our bags off & walked across nearby Central Park to visit the Met & enjoy the first pretty Sunday of the year in the park. Caught the subway on the same block to the 9/11 Memorial Museum the next morning. Spent the next day walking up 5th Avenue & down Park Avenue before returning to the Lucerene to dress for 2014 Tony Award winning A Gentlman's Guide to Love & Murder" Away from the tourists while surrounded by turn-of-the-20th century elegance with easy access to all of Manhattan & beyond.
