Good location

Good location and reasonably priced. Clean modern hotel, helpful staff. More suited for couples rather than families due to loud music in reception, dimly lit area and wine bar. Bar very expensive! Cheaper to drink out. Good gym. If you want a decent hotel for a reasonable amount then I would recommend it.

Modern hotel conveniently situated in Mahatten.

Pros: The hotel was conviently situated for a lot of Manhattens must seen places. The hotel was kept very clean and had a comfortable bed.
Cons: small bedroom and bathroom with a persistent noise which could disturb sleep. It would have been nice to have had refreshments in the room.
Location: Near Time Square and other attractions.
Facilities available within the hotel. Helpful staff especially the concierge.

Good Location but Expensive Basic Hotel

Pros: Great location
Cons: Very expensive yet very basic for a superior room, would have expected better facilities and needs to improve due to vast number of hotels on offer
Location: Excellent location for Times Square, Central Park, Empire State etc and all central Manhatton but needed to use the underground for further afield
In a good location but a very very basic hotel even though we booked a superior room we had to ask at reception if they had given us a superior room as no coffee / tea making facilities or any real details of things to do and see. We paid extra for a superior room and was told this meant you only got two double beds and a colour TV. This is a real surprise as all hotels I have stayed in within the USA come with these as standard so god knows what their standard room was like ! Prices in the restaurant for food or basic drinks very expensive so never used them and went elsewhere where there is plenty of choice for reasonably priced restaurants so would recommend them and not the hotel facilities. We were originally charge $1.25 for a 'toll free' phone call but got this removed from the bill upon check out. Room was very clean and tidy and was comfortable. Our room was on the 7th floor was was noisy from being so close to Time Square which we didn't mind as knew that this would be likely due to its location but maybe a 'superior' room would be one on the upper floors. Due to the vast number of hotels in the area would recommend another hotel if comparing on costs due to the limited basic facility it offers which I didn't feel value for money based on others and paying for their 'superior' room

Location is perfect!

Pros: Staff, location, temperature comfortable and all needs were met. Fast elevators. Security presence.
Cons: Bed was on the very firm side, could be better.
Location: Location is great for theater, Time Square and restaurants. Walking distance to all.
We wanted to be close enough to walk to Time Square and Bryant Park area without the hassle and expensive of taxi/traffic. The hotel was in the perfect location. We were able to cross the street to see two Broadway shows and find a wide variety of restaurants. If/Then show had a ticket lottery from 6-630. We were able to get in the drawing and wait in the hotel lobby out of the weather to wait for announcement of winners. Hotel Lobby had nightclub feel dark with music and comfortable seating, so enjoyable to sit while waiting to go to show.

Great price for a lovely hotel. Rooms are not huge but Times Square is only 200 metres away! Good food and very friendly staff. We will definitely be going back in the future.

Dark and disappointing

Pros: the upgrade
I was looking forward to staying in this newly renovated historic hotel. It surprised me that the hotel lobby, the hallways, and especially the area by the elevators was so dark. It seems that the decorator aimed to recreate a nightclub feel and that might suit some patrons, but unfortunately not my husband and I. Exiting the elevators in the hallways felt like stepping into the dark area backstage. Maybe a cool idea, but not a welcoming atmosphere. Our first room, billed as a superior room, was in tolerably small, felt like postage stamp size. The staff provided a complimentary upgrade that made the remaining three nights more comfortable and we appreciated that very much.

Looked good on paper, but reality was poor

The location was good, as you were a stones throw away from one of the main tourist hubs. The foyer as you first walk in has been newly renovated to a high spec. However, this was clearly where the budget was blown. As we went to the room, there was chipped paint, cramped conditions and poor housekeeping (cob webs etc). The beds were comfortable, however the noise at night was terrible! Anyone passing the hotel could be heard, and we were on the eighth floor. The shower was pathetic, as was the bath. The only good thing in the bathroom was the fresh towels produced daily. The concierge was very helpful as were the other staff we encountered. Wine was overpriced in the restaurant, however the food was good. I would NOT recommend this hotel to a friend, as for the short (3 day) stay we were here, we ended up not getting the required sleep to enable a full assault on the city. Pay the extra £150 and go somewhere else. I suppose the learning from all of this is that you get what you pay for....... in contrast, the city was so amazing that we had a fab time, despite the poor hotel. Hope this helps anyone else going on a short break to this incredible city.

Location: very close to the heart of Manhattan
The hotel entrance is impressive but a bit too much like walking into a dim lit nightclub than a hotel with a DJ playing above reception, might have been more appreciated if I was there as a tourist but wasn't the tranquillity I was looking for after landing from a transatlantic flight, late at night and having to get up for a meeting in the morning. The staff were all pleasant and helpful, facilities were fine, room was a bit on the small side and bathroom needed some love. I would stay there again as a tourist but not for the business traveller.

Wrong Room!

We drove in late. Checked in went to room and there was some one in it. Screaming traumatized 9yo son. Not much of an apology. Moved us to a smaller room. Heat/ac didn't work. Should have been cleaned. Water pressure in shower nonexistent. Piece of shower ceiling fell. We were very happy to leave. Awful is an understatement. Had to turn shower on and off multiple times just to get enough water to wash hair and I don't have much. NO response to calls to management. If I could rate it below terrible I would!!!!! STAY AWAY. Worst hotel I have ever stayed at in NYC.

Amazing Location

Firstly need to thank the lovely Christina in reception who was so kind and helpful when I checked in. She really set the tone for my stay and I cannot thank her enough. All the staff were attentive and even the security chaps at night were polite! The hotel is literally steps from Times Sq and anyone that knows New York would understand that this is the hub of this amazing city and a great place to be. Transport, entertainment, Broadway Shows ect just moments away. Yes the rooms are very small. Some are actually tiny! Luckily mine was on the 12 th floor and whilst not big was bearable. The nice open aspect helped! I did have a cockroach on the first night in the bathroom, but that does sometimes happen in city centre hotels, and room service sorted out this uninvited guest. It's a shame that you can only shower in the hotel as all bath plugs have been removed, as I love a bath, but that's a minor quibble really. Another nice point was that the room service ladies were all so attentive and polite and happy to clean my room later on in the day ( up to 1pm on fact ) if the night before had been a late one! I would definetly stay at the hotel again. Yes, it has it's shortcomings but the great staff and amazing location make up for this in my mind. If the Paramount continue having lovely staff like Christina, then it will be enduringly successful.
