An "ok" experience

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Location: Plenty of shopping and central park
Elegant hotel well situated on 55th and 5th avenue. The entrance is a little awkward with the reception tucked off to the side, but it works. They had some renovations going on, so perhaps this caused the odd feel. That said the entrance itself does show glamour.. We had an upgraded room and it was both spacious and very comfortable. That said, we had a suite at the Hyatt Times Square that same week, and frankly that was just as and maybe even more comfortable -- much to my surprise. The big downside with this hotel is the church across the street, which harbors many homeless. It creates an uncomfortable feeling walking outside... Certainly not what one would expect from 5th avenue. Very nicely situated, 2 blocks from Central Park and right in the middle in luxury shopping. Not sure I would go again. If I want a luxurious experience, I think I will stick to the fairmont.

Greta experience in NY ! The hotel as well as the staff contributed to a great time. Be sure to take advantage of the concierge for dinning and overall knowledge of the city.

Pros: For a historic hotel it is quite well kept and the staff were friendly.
Cons: Prices for the stay could be lower!
Location: 5th Ave. Plenty to do!

Very nice hotel.

Pros: Great bed, nice rooms, great staff.
Cons: The food and drinks are a bit steep. Especially $ 9.00 coffee with brunch.
Location: Right off 5th Avenue with all the pricey shopping, 2 blocks to Metro, 5 blocks to Central Park. Walking distance to Rockefeller Center, Times Square.
The Peninsula is a very nice hotel. Staff is great, rooms are nice. Very nice bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable. It is pricey, and the food (brunch at the restaurant, with coffee being $ 9.00 per person extra) and the drinks (rooftop, great location, but drinks are all $ 20-25). Good location, close to 5th Avenue, Central Park ( 5 blocks), Metro (2 blocks). A little further to Times Square. Pretty quiet hotel, didn't seem very busy. Away from the action of 7th Avenue and Times Square. Overall a good experience, although a bit stuffy...

Nice hotel

It was a great get away. We stayed in hotel for 4 days. The location of the hotel and proximity to the restaurants, shops, park, broadway shows, etc is an awesome advantage. The hotel is very well maintained. The hotel staff is generally helpful.

5 days at the Peninsula

Pros: Spa and gym facilities are top rate - the gym clothes really useful to save taking back lots of sweaty t-shirts and the showers and changing great.
Cons: Add whether there is a view or not to room description to make choice easier.
Location: 2 minute walk to Central Park and Museums. Right on 5th Avenue for designer shops. Good bars and eating near.
Deluxe Room small but clean with good size bathroom. Outer facing room would be better as high as possible. The spa is on the rooftop with magnificent views down 5th Avenue and to Central Park. Staff are helpful, polite and always know your name.
