Accommodations and Staff were top of the line

Posted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: Location, staff, architecture and decor, service, comfort, cleanliness, updates in the bathroom were fantastic.
Cons: Room service offerings are preposterously over priced, although I can't say the offerings aren't impeccable because I didn't sample them.
Location: Phenomenal. Central Park is across the street. R train subway runs back and forth to places such as World Trade, Times Square, etc. and is block away.
From the moment I pulled in I was treated like I was important, leading up to the time I had my bags placed in my trunk to leave. I spilled wine on the bed one night, housekeeping service was there in 2 minutes inspecting my mattress for perfection and replacing all the sheets with precision at 11pm with a jolly demeanor. You could tell they took our comfort seriously. The rooms are expensive, and room service is preposterously expensive for the non-wealthy. But if you aren't rich and want to splurge for a baller experience, this is the place. I'd recommend wardrobe that is a little more "smart casual" to dressy if you want to fit in. It's the Upper East Side, and this is a top notch place. As a Lawyer I range from shorts and Under Armor to Armani suit and tie, depending on the occasion, but when in Rome do as the Romans do. I would pack some neat dress so you don't feel too out of place. If you want to throw on a t-shirt and head to the bar for a beer, this isn't the place. I found the bar a bit stuffy and pretentious. I mean let's face it, we're all going to sit there and drink liquid drugs. Can't I just wear a polo and a pair of shorts for God's sake? But again, I could see celebrities/dignitaries finding this hotel completely adequate, so it's not for everyone on every occasion. In fact, my wife and I discussed the fact that we might have over done it with the Pierre, and felt like we needed a little more Holiday Inn at times, But it was nevertheless an amazing experience

Returning to the Big Apples

Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: It is elegant but not snobby,
Location: I loved being about to walk through Central Park.
I had not been in the City for many years so I decided to treat myself and stay at the Pierre. It was wonderful. The hotel is a classic but with all the latest ammenities. I was sad to leave. The staff made me feel like it was home.

Lovely hotel with with great staff. Expensive.

Posted Jul 31, 2015
Pros: Location, quiet, great staff. Concierge are very accommodating.
Cons: In room coffee pot. I like to wake up with that first cup without public appearance.
Location: Its New Freaking York City......figure it out.
Delayed baggage confusion between concierge and front desk was the result of poor communication among staff. No coffee in the room. $200 for room service breakfast for three is high. Bar and restaurant are expensive. Excellent location, condition, staff are courteous and pleasant. The minor inconveniences were surprising, but the overall experience was very good. This is a first-rate hotel.

Amazing hotel on central park

Posted Jul 29, 2015
The Pierre is an amazing hotel all around. It is a beautiful hotel, with 2 very good restaurants. From the moment we arrived the staff was incredible, helping us in every way imaginable making our stay easily one of the most luxurious and relaxing vacations we ever had. Truly an exceptional place, I hope they can keep up this level of hospitality, we will be back!.

Wonderful hotel

Posted Jul 26, 2015
We stayed at The Pierre for my wife's 50th birthday. The lobby may be unassuming, but the hotel is lovely, right on the park, and staff is extremely attentive and accommodating. It often seems that the more a hotel costs the less you get (I'm looking at you Waldorf Astoria), but that's certainly not the case at The Pierre. I may be ruined from staying anywhere else in NY. Be sure to get as high up as you can, on the park view side. The picture is the view from our room on the 39th floor.

Mid-summer value

Exceptional hotel, staff and location. Mid week summer rates very approachable. Particularly impressed by friendliness and accommodations made by hotel desk staff. New restaurant is terrific for breakfast. Makes a warm impression and the wait staff was great.

Dreadful Hotel

Posted Jul 16, 2015
Pros: Nothing
Cons: Management change and renovation.
The Pierre is often deeply discounted for a five star hotel and there is a reason. It is a dismal, gloomy hotel with stained carpeting and dreadful odors. I have never been in a hotel that has such offensive odors. The room service menu has many dishes from an ethnic cuisine and the hotel reeks of food odors. The carpeting in the halls and rooms is heavily soiled. The bathrooms are far too small and are unlike those at any other five star hotel I have visited. The promised amenities with my elite travel service program were forgotten and the staff was rude. Unless you want to ruin a New York City stay, find another hotel at which to stay. The rooms have little light and are dreary.
