Iconic, old-school hostelry.

The lobby renovation reminds one of the Gritti Palace in Venice (ditto the elevators). Great staff: desk, bellman, doorman, etc. The elevator operators even remember your name and your floor without being told, like Claridges in London still does. Also they don't try to nickel and dime you with the refrigerator stuff like most places -- everything is complimentary. Smallish rooms (at the lower rates), but comfortable, reminiscent of the fifties. Location unbeatable, right at the corner of the Park on Grand Army Plaza. A class operation. I am particularly fond of Harry Cipriani's restaurant, right off the lobby. comfort food, albeit pricey.

Excellent location and attentive staff. Throw back to an earlier era. Free internet. Amenities minimal but the best part of NY is at your doorstep.

Classy hotel in prime location

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Everything.
Cons: Nothing.
Location: Fifth Avenue shopping, Central Park across the street.
Loved our stay, classic old school hotel but renovated perfectly. Benefit of high ceiling, large room, spotless as to the room and bathroom. Bed was most comfortable. Rate was great for Valentine weekend, though courtyard view was nonexistent. If this is important, splurge on park view, but for us this wasn't an issue.

Wonderful hotel in a great location

Posted Oct 26, 2014
Pros: It is a beautiful hotel with amazing ceilings and artwork.
Location: The location is great, literally next to Central Park and on 5th Avenue near the shops.
Booked this hotel through Expedia and had the best experience. The hotel is beautiful very art deco and you feel like you are in The Great Gatsby. The room was huge, plush and comfortable. Did not want to leave the sumptuous bed, but its great location next to Central Park was key to visit this beautiful area, near the Museums and fantastic restaurants. On 5th Avenue so easy to walk to the shops. The staff were very helpful, always cheerful and happy to accommodate any request.

GRAND HOTEL GREAT SERVICE

Posted Oct 21, 2014 on Hotels.com
VERY PRICEY our room was an inside room so there is little daylight and nothing to look at. I never like I was in the heart of the city while in my room. I should have realized that we would be facing a wall...but rooms with a view very very pricey. The best service in town however!

Caro para o que oferece

Posted Sep 26, 2014 on Hotels.com
