“Exactly What I Wanted”

Cooper Square and the surrounding area was alive at night but not as busy as something like Times Square. I felt safe all around into the middle of the night. Plenty of nice places to eat. Plenty of bars. Right down the street from UCB Comedy. The view from floor 8 wasn't wonderful but we asked to move up. We were moved to floor 16 and it was a beautiful view of downtown with a great sunset view. Bed was amazingly comfortable and bathroom was nice. The view of the city from everywhere in the room was awesome. I really loved the entire decor of the hotel, everyone in the hotel was friendly and responsive, and even neighbors on the louder side weren't a bother. East Village is my new favorite section of NYC and I WILL go back to this hotel again.

Area recommendations

East Village was excellent like I talked about. It was alive at night and felt safe. Plenty to eat, entertainment nearby, and generally pretty quiet.

“Very Impressed”

We loved the contemporary elegance of the Standard Hotel at One Cooper Square. The next time we are in New York, we would like to try the Standard Hotel along the High Line.

Area recommendations

We loved the East Village because of it's night life for young people. The Meat Market Area intrigues us however and we would be interested in learning more about it.

“I loved it... and will happily go back. I never give a hotel a #5... but it could have been!”

I LOVED that, after a harrowing subway experience, trying to get to the hotel, I was greeted with a glass of wine... in a lounge setting. While I sat down with my vino, they checked me in. It was divine. The rooms are small... via "boutique." I wish their description of the deep water tub matched my imagination. It was very small... so don't expect to take a romantic bath there. Otherwise, I thought the room, the hotel, the bar on the 2nd floor, EVERYTHING... rocked! I can't wait to go back!

Area recommendations

None in particular. NYC is perfect. From the Upper West side down to SoHo... and from the Upper East side down to the Bowery... and from Central Park.. and everywhere in between.

“The best holiday ever...”

“Impeccable service, tiny room”

This is a beautiful hotel, very modern, with very professional and gracious staff. The affiliated restaurant is beautiful, comfortable, and well staffed. The food, while expensive, is excellent. The location is very good for our visit to an NYU dorm about three short blocks away. Two complaints: (1) Our room was too small for two people, with no chair except a small desk chair. There was NO PLACE to set suitcases down except in bathroom and under the desk. (2) The hotel has no signage indicating it is a hotel or the hotel's name. At night, there is poor lighting in the front of the building and the street number is not visible. We had to call the hotel to find out where it was while we were in a taxi directly in front of the hotel itself!

“Fantastic three days”

The facility the staff and the location were all near perfection. Every single member of staff was excellent and I would.give them a five star rating. I will definately stay with them the next time i need to visit the NYU part of the city.

“Great temporary homebase for excursions in the city”

I recommend the Cooper Square Hotel for its: 1. staff, who were to a person always solicitous to help me, always greeted me and my daughter kindly, and who were always professionally attentive to detail. 2. The bed was comfortable, soft, and provided me with full nights of sleep during my entire stay there. 3. The location, smack in the center of mid-town Manhattan, was perfect for the many excursions I took both uptown and downtown.

As I said (above), the location is perfect for someone like me who wishes to visit various sites in New York City (e.g. the MET, NYMOMA, Ellis Island, Coney Island, Patsie's Pizzaria, "Top of the Rock," the Brooklyn Bridge, and so forth. The neighborhood is called the Bowery.

“Great Location”

The Cooper Square is an incredibly cool hotel. No front desk...you are greeted on the sidewalk and escorted in. Once in you are offerred water, wine or champagne...now that's a first for me. Everything about the hotel is first class. I needed pants laundered and they were back to the room early. The restaurant/bar on the bottom floor was very good. We stayed here due to the proximity to NYU (picking up daughter) and found tbe neighborhood to be one of our favorite parts of the stay. Tons or restaurants and bars within a 3 block radius. The only thing about the stay that wasn't "tops" was tbe size of tbe room. It was a king size corner room and it was tiny...awesome bed and very small square footage...but who stays in the room all day when in NY. I still give the hotel 5 stars.
