4 Night stayPosted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: This Hotel has a 1930's elegant feel, but with all the modern day facilities. A great atmosphere & a certain charm that is lacking in most Hotels
Location: Great location for Broadway, Empire State, Central Park, 5th Avenue, Times Square, Grand central Station, all walkable within 10 - 15 mins
A great experience on our 2nd trip to the Waldorf Astoria & didn't disappoint. Well positioned & easy walking to Grand central Station, Empire State Building, Rockefella Centre, 5th Avenue , Times Square & Central Park. From you moment you arrive you are treated like a valued guest, the service is what you would expect from such a magnificent Hotel.

ExcellentPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: The comfort, service, facilities and traditional charm. Reasonable room rates in comparison to other top-tier Manhattan hotels. Polite, helpful staff.
Cons: Extras expensive. Breakfast, wifi, room bar drinks, breakfast (delicious!), come at high prices. The legendary Sunday brunch buffet is discontinued.
Location: Mid-town location convenient for everything....shopping, restaurants, shows etc.
I had a very comfortable suite at a price that I consider pretty reasonable for a hotel of this standard offering just about every facility and comfort any guest could require. It is quite old-fashioned...but in the nicest way, with classic furnishings in the rooms as well as one of the most spectacular lobbies in Manhattan. A real institution which has maintained its high standards over the years. I used room service a number of times and everything I ordered was of a high standard, well-presented and appeared remarkably promptly....but was also very expensive, with cover charge, compulsory service charge and taxes piled onto already high-priced items. The waiters were polite and efficient. I consulted concierge staff a few times for guidance on restaurants, local facilities etc. and they were always courteous and helpful with suggestions and recommendations that were invariably spot-on. A truly memorable stay.

Centrally located hotel with very helpful staffPosted Feb 27, 2014
Pros: Location, history and charm of the hotel, friendly staff, excellent food, hung a Canadian flag when Canada won gold for hockey at the Olympics!
Cons: temperature control in the rooms
Location: Close to metro stop and shopping, easy walking to Theatre district, Rockefeller Center and Times Square,
A rough start turned out to be a great stay thanks to Angel at the front desk. The luxury room we had paid for was not available and we were given another room on the 15th floor which was unfortunately in an area being renovated and noisy. Given the noise and inconvenience we had already experienced, we were then upgraded to a one bedroom suite in the Towers with breakfast and a hotel credit for our 5 day stay. Staff could not have been nicer or more accommodating. Food was excellent.Concierge service was very helpful, with lots of good ideas on things to do and how to get there. Free wi-fi in the lobby. Minor issue was the warm temperature in the room. NYC was unusually warm for Feb and even with the heat turned off and window open, it was warm in the room as there was no air conditioning. Still had a great stay.

The overall facade and decor of the shared spaces was wonderful. Location is excellent. The rooms themselves are tired and lacking in ammenities.

5 Star AccomdationPosted Feb 25, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Though it is comfy, the room conditions can still use a little work.
This time I bought a few other people with me to the hotel. We waited for a long time in the lobby for a room during President's Day Weekend. The staff was absolutely accommodating, and once they were able to get me room they were thoughtful enough to text me, and give me a room upgrade and a few vouchers. The entire staff always went above and beyond.

Nice hotel, great location.Posted Feb 25, 2014
The hotel is in a great location right in midtown. We were in the tower suites so our room was beautiful and extremely spacious however the A/C didn't work. When we called down to inquire about how to work the A/C we were told that they could come crack a window for us (we had already done that ourselves.) The next morning we were woken up to the doorbell from housekeeping at 9:30am. We politely asked her to come back after checkout at noon and tried to fall back asleep. An hour later at 10:30am housekeeping was back ringing our doorbell. Needless to say, we were less than pleased by this. Finally, when we called downstairs to valet for our car, we were told it would be a 1/2 hour wait. After 45 minutes went by we began to get anxious. Finally after an hour we said something and were told to be patient. Overall, the hotel was beautiful and the room was spacious, but it's a shame that we experienced so many inconveniences--especially for the money we paid.

TerriblePosted Feb 24, 2014
Cons: Change of management
Location: Lots to do, just don't stay at the waldorf
We had a pair of the previous guests socks in the corner of the room for all of our stay. We reported them to reception on 3 occasions (verbally and in writing) with no response. The bath didn't work, with no plug and variable water temperature. The TV remote and telephone were also not working. We had a query on the bill. Expedia had taken a deposit and it was not reflected. The staff were rude and unhelpful.

Great hotel in ideal location!Posted Feb 21, 2014
I've lived in the metropolitan area for more than 50 years and always wanted to experience the Waldorf Hotel. It was everything I expected...clean, beautiful ambience, professional staff, safe and comfortable! I hope to stay there again in the future!
