Awesome NY Experience

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Cons: The Bell Hops were somewhat lazy. But after some encouragement he agreed to get our luggage from the lock up and bring it to the front of the hotel.
Location: The hotel is well situated close to Times Square, Central Park, and Grand Central Station.
Our first trip to New York and chose the Waldorf Astoria because of the history of the grand hotel. Comfortable and luxurious are words that describe the hotel and suite. We would come back after a long day of experiencing NY and our room would be perfectly made by the hotel staff.

Doesn't live up to it's reputation

Posted Aug 20, 2014
We chose to stay at the Waldorf because of it's reputation of excellence. It did not live up to its (my) expectations. The facilities were mediocre and the serivice was lacking. It started with a room that was not ready, even though we were only a very short time early, and it was all downhill from there.

Nice location. Close to places we went to.

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Pros: Location. Safety. Cleanliness.
Nice . A lot of walks/exercise. We were able to see all the places we planned to see. Tiring, yes but we felt relieved as soon as we reached this hotel.

It's the Waldorf Astoria! Need I say more?

Posted Aug 18, 2014
Cons: Would love to have coffee service in the room. Having to schlep over to Stabucks for a coffee in the morning was annoying.
Location: Perfect location, walking distance to almost everything.
The grand elegance of the historic Waldorf Astoria! If you're looking for chic or trendy, you've booked the wrong hotel. THE Waldorf Astoria is everything you could imagine in old school elegance. Fit for Kings, Queens, Princes, and Presidents, the place simply resonates class.

Stylish well located and historic

Posted Aug 18, 2014
The room was a good size for midtown manhattan. Decor is tired but clean. Common areas are stylish and well maintained. Problems with room eg missing blind and bathtowel were quickly fixed. Not a great location for restaurants but there are plenty to choose from further afield. Avoid the Rockefeller centre restaurants. They are touristy and overpriced.

High class city hotel

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: A very elegant high class hotel with professional, helpful, friendly staff. Beautiful rooms, clean and lovely comfy beds.
Location: Try breakfast at The Red Flame, go up The Empire States Building when its dark as the city looks wonderful and Top of the rock during the day.
We have just come back from a truly fantastic four day city break to New York. We took our boys aged 16 and 13 who loved it too. New York lived up to all we had expected and more, the people were friendly and helpful, we found it easy to get around on foot and on the subway, we managed to fit in the majority of the main attractions and lots of shopping.

Hmmm!

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Friendly staff. Close to many NY Attractions.
Cons: The rooms require a complete makeover.
Location: Rockefeller Centre, NBC Studio, MOMA, Radio City Music Hall, Carnegie Hall, Time Square, Jacobs Theatre, Central Park, Guggenheim, Grand Central
A historic hotel that is rich in history. Beautiful exterior and lobby. Friendly staff. Room requires a complete makeover. I find the Art Deco charming but did not expect lumpy sofa with cushions that no longer fit. The chairs are worn and flat. The toilets required you to hold the flusher down for extended time to flush properly. The sink had a crack in it. The doors are all worn and chipped. Ice requires a room service call. Bed and linens comfortable and nice. If you are a tourist note the change after 6pm in dress code or you will feel the difference in attitude from the staff. Nice to have a safe in room. Great complimentary computer room to check in for your flight and print off boarding receipt.

Wadlrof Astoria: Worth a night to see the place.

Posted Aug 17, 2014
Pros: Image, history, lobby.
Cons: Better in room facilities.
Location: Close to the Grand Central Station with plenty of eateries and near the fifth avenue.
I stayed in a two queen family room. Look it is the Hotel name everyone knows in NYC with a great history; the grand old lady of the city. It is worth a night to see the fab lobby area and to say you have been. The rooms are acceptable but no water, tea or coffee maker, hair dryer and a bit basic. I would say I wouldn't stay for more than one night as there are better NYC hotels unless you are in the fab end of the hotel!

Hotel is beautiful but rooms are just ok. Little disappointing. Shower is extremely small and awkward with toilet right next to it. Beds were comfortable though.
