Great classic hotel. Easy walking distance to most things we wanted to see. Wonderful spacious room and very helpful staff. My wife and I checked into the hotel the day before the "historic blizzard" of 2015. We ended up having to leave a day early because flights were being canceled. The hotel staff was extremely helpful.

A beautiful haven amidst the bustle of New York.

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: The beautiful lobby and the elegance and history. Sipping a cocktail in Sir Harry's bar was an absolute delight.
Cons: Definitely the quality of the food and there should be tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Location: Perfect location if you are on business, or on vacation. Good restaurants nearby and should you want to take a tour the bus stops outside the hotel.
I stayed here on a business trip and would definitely stay again. The hotel is beautiful and the perfect place to escape the noise and bustle of New York. It was a joy to return to the hotel after business meetings to relax and recuperate. I am about to voice a few criticisms but I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend the hotel as long as you decide to eat elsewhere. The staff were friendly and accommodating apart from a waiter in the Peacock Alley restaurant who was disappointingly unhelpful. My husband also tried to organise flowers and a bottle of champagne for my room as he couldn't come with me but was unable to do so which is surprising for a hotel of this standard. My major criticism is the food. Very disappointed in room service and the breakfast at Oscar's and a sandwich at the Peacock Alley restaurant. Really not up to the standard of the hotel otherwise. I also missed having coffee and tea making facilities in the room. The beds are the most comfortable I think I have ever slept in with gorgeous linen and mattresses. We needed to print out some papers for a presentation and the concierge was extremely helpful. I also noticed how friendly the chambermaids were when you passed them in the corridors and the doormen were very courteous and helpful.

The best hotel

Posted Jan 26, 2015
I've just returned from New York this afternoon and I don't have a bad word to say about this hotel! The location is perfect, the staff are perfect, friendly and ever so helpful. We were upgraded to an amazing room when we checked in and could not have been happier. We actually left a passport in the taxi on the way to the hotel and the hotel staff went above and beyond to help us get it back, which they did. I cannot thank them enough. This has been my best experience in New York and have already reccomended this hotel to everybody I know, and sung its praises on social media. Thanks for an amazing holiday!

Beautiful hotel

Pros: The room, the lobby, the restaurant, everything
Location: Good location, walked to many places
We were offered a n upgrade to a suite for a little extra money. We had a large bedroom, separate living room and two bathrooms. The stay was excellent. Wished I had been able to stay longer.

Not good

Posted Jan 23, 2015
It needs remodeling. It takes 10 minutes to get hot water in the shower and then you run out of it. One of the towels had a red spot and so the curtain in the super tiny bathroom.

Dear Eduard, Thank goodness for our impressive lobby and the inspirational setting. Yet obviously we cannot be resting on those aspects. Most disappointing to read the issues with your room appointment. We will keep your concerns in mind as we continually evolve to best meet and exceed our guests' needs and hope you will give us another opportunity to impress should you return to the city in the future. Dear Tony, Thank you for your comments regarding your recent stay. Indeed, our suites are the finest accommodations at the Waldorf Astoria. Many of our guests book standard room appointments and expect to receive the best of the best that we have to offer. As I think you captured, these room are fine and clean, but not awe-inspiring the way we hope our Presidential and luxury suites can be. We hope to welcome you back for a repeat visit in the future, and thank you again for taking the time to submit your feedback! Great deal on great room

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Everything
Cons: Check in was delayed a little bit to make sure we had a non-smoking room, but we were given free drinks at the lobby bar and an apology.
Location: The midtown location on Park and 49th was very convenient for our interests in NYC
We noticed a large discount on a "Signature Suite" (probably associated with the winter weather) and decided to splurge. Everything about it was great. Thanks for alerting us to this.
