Small Rooms But Great Location

The rooms were very small. But the room and the bathrooms were very clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The wifi works well. The location of this Hotel is great. Located at Canal Street right next to the N,Q and R Trains (Yellow Line). These trains take you Uptown and Downtown to all the good sight seeing spots in New York. So in short, Rooms are small and Clean and location is excellent.

Pleasantly Disappointed

Pros: The personnel and its convenient location

Location: Conveniently located near the financial district and china town/little Italy and affordable
I was attending an international seminar at FED NY and expected some basic facilities. May be let us be positive and turn my experience into some suggestions. The shower pressure is excellent but the little amenities could be improved at little extra cost, For instance, little things like holding your brush, toothpaste, cream etc could be added. Soap, shampoo, shower cap and towels could be changed everyday. Being a particular sort of individual I expected greater value for money. The television was inconveniently placed such that you cannot enjoy a movie, a debate or assimilate information. No envelope, paper or pen were provided. Worse, the hotel could have provided a little more of coffee, tea and some biscuits. It was very difficult to work on the laptop, No place to keep your clothes. On the other hand it was quite conveniently located and the personnel Hispanic or Afro American background were exceptionally nice and helpful. Overall my experience could have been better and next time I may revisit and stay a couple of days out of my total stay. I travel a lot and regularly.

We booked this hotel because of the price and we could not have made a better choice the room was very clean and fairly sized for hotel rooms in New York. We could not fault any of the staff every member of staff on reception went out of their way to help us. We would definitely book this hotel again

Decent hotel with decent rooms. Nothing fancy that's for sure. Very very noisy. Rooms are right on a very busy street. Nonstop noise all night long. You get what you pay for.

Close to transport

Pros: The location was easy to get to Brooklyn Bridge, World Trade Centre and into town with train very close by. Comfy bed & fluffy towels.
Cons: Cleaner bathroom and change the bed when requested.
Location: Location is in a good spot. Is to get in and out of town, Lose to little Italy, Chinatown, Word Trade Centre, Brooklyn Bridge.
The hotel was close to the yellow Q train line which was a bonus in getting around the city. The photos of the room are a little inaccurate. Room actually smaller than photos project. The majority of the staff are charming and helpful but one or two need to brush up on what's in the area eg closet laundrymat. The bathroom is tiny and could do with a little more love. Bathroom products supplied. Bed is very comfortable but was a double and we thought it was going to be a queen. Hotel is Eco conscious. They ask to leave a card on the bed if you don't want it changed. After 5 days we did want it changed but it did not happen. The towels are nice and fluffy and will get changed if requested. Good location is this hotels strength,

Room looked nothing like pictures. Not for value.

Cons: Room temperature managed by each room instead of the reception. Prices should fall given the space available in the room.
The room was clearly nothing like the pictures. It did not represent the value paid. There were other hotels at the same location with the same prices and normal rooms (Hilton, Marriott etc). This room only had a bed and a tv and a door to the bathroom. Very claustrophobic. Room temperature was managed by the reception. It was freezing cold at night and very hot in the morning. Very unlikely for a hotel and unacceptable for the price. We left a day earlier and moved to another hotel.

Room much too small so the double bed was small

The staff were friendly only after you tipped them. The room we had was too small so even the double bed was small. The room was clean on the 9th floor so quiet. Air conditioning was not on most of the time we did not have control so we had to open a window. Location of the hotel was great easy to get to anywhere in NY.

Surprisingly good

Cons: How about a bowl of fruit on the front desk for guests in the morning?
Location: Chinatown, Tribeca, Wall Street all walking distances.
For whatever reason NYC is booked heavily throughout September and this is where I was able to get a room at a decent price (If over $300.00 a night can be considered decent). For that price it's VERY expensive, considering you are getting a very very small room, however it's clean, recently renovated and just plain nice. I enjoyed my stay. When a hotel says "close to subway" it can be blocks away, in this case it's baby steps away, almost right outside. Convenient to Broadway and Chinatown, it was located in a great area, the hustle and bustle of the street may be overwhelming for some, but for those who aren't bothered, this place is a hub of activity. Leaving the front doors you are likely to be approached by a guy selling bags, then another selling watches, and just up the street are stores in Chinatown that are selling said bags and watches. But I will say, finding a clean room (regardless of size) in this city, with a comfy bed outweighs most of the rest for me and Blu had a confy bed and clean surroundings

Helpful staff, disappointing/aging infrastructure

Cons: Shabby lobbyhallways, aging infrastructure, no individual temperature controls in the room (completely, completely unacceptable), 11 a.m. checkout.
Location: Great location near Tribeca, Soho, Chinatown.
I booked this hotel at the very last minute. The location was unbeatable. I was upgraded to a king-sized room which I appreciated. The king-sized room was quite small so I can't imagine what the regular-sized rooms were like. The room was functional/spartan but clean, no armchair or floor lamps but the bed was comfortable and the linen was clean. The room was a corner room with several windows. The young man at check-in was great, helpful and friendly as was the housekeeping staff. The building is an older one. Some of the common areas were shabby and could do with substantial refreshing/updating. The absolute downside was the absence of individual temperature controls in my room. I had to call each night/every few hours to ask/negotiate for the temperature to be turned down to an acceptable 70 degrees or less (it was the first real heatwave of the summer over Labor Day weekend). That's absolutely insane and completely unacceptable. Imagine not being able to control your room's temperature and being completely dependent upon a stranger/hotel worker to modify it - if and when s/he feels like it! Check out is also at 11 am, also deeply problematic, most hotels offer 1 pm/2 pm checkouts. The hotel would only offer a later in the day checkout for a fee of half a night's stay. So while this hotel worked as an emergency/backup measure I would never stay there voluntarily again. But the staff - front desk and housekeeping - was wonderful, the only real high point of the stay.
