Not near a 4 star hotel

Posted Jun 26, 2014
Pros: View from 39th floor was good
Cons: There is a long list of things they need to improve.
We only stayed one night there and cancelled our remaining booking as we had the worst experience ever. First of all, The staff was very rude and unprofessional. Room was not up to the four star hotel's standard. Don't believe on pictures please those are very deceptive. Parking ($75, no in/out) was a rip off. Do whatever there but don't make a phone call, as they do change $21.99 per minute even if your call was in neighborhoods city. The included breakfast was consisted only on bread, some muffin, cold coffee and jams. There was on going basis work in our room even when we were there, first smoke alarm test team came. then another one to test water leakage and then the guy who jacked up the small refrigerator from the room saying that this is not included in the service. Please find a real 4 star hotel, there should be many real 4 star hotels around.

Got to Hotel and they said sorry were oversold

Posted Jun 19, 2014
Pros: Pictures on Expedia
Cons: Oversold is unacceptable and if it does happen the night should have been comped or my next visit the right room with and upgrade. Coffee cafe has cof
Location: UN
Arrived about 5 pm to Hotel very excited to try the West Tower . Pictures always look amazing. They oversold and gave me a room in what they like to call Vintage East tower. The room was clean comfortable small but for a discount for not myself it could work. Only one night till i go to my 4 days at another hotel i was dealing with it. Few things made it worse . No water in room. (bottled) No one in gift shop to buy water till the coffee shop in hotel No coffee in a coffee shop. What? So i was not actually on the West Tower for the night I sure hope its better.

5 star

If you have stayed in other 5 star hotels, you would know some of the differences. Overall, it is a good place to stay in New York City.

Hotel location

Posted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: Location, hotel quality, room and staff.
Cons: Cleaner exterior entrance area.
Location: Very centralized to everywhere. Restaurants, parks, business district, subway is one block away, and cabs trips are short. Manhattan area is great
The hotel lobby was very nice and staff very helpful and courteous. Room was very clean and large for New York standards. The view from the room was magnificent. Be sure to go to the 30th floor for coffee and cocktails, great view. Being on a side street, no traffic yet close to main streets. Cabs always available.

Nice size room, great view.

Posted Jun 17, 2014
Pros: The view, large rooms.
Cons: Room readiness, and iprovement on answering phones.
Location: Not much right by the hotel, but walkable distance to Grand Central, New York Public Library, Bryant Park.
We arrived before check in time and our room was not ready. We went out for a few hours and returned AFTER check in time and it still wasn't ready. After a short wait we received our room. We were on the 36th floor of the West Tower. We had a great view of the river. The room was nice sized for NYC, clean, comfortable beds, nice bathroom. The door was paper thin and we could hear everything out in the hall crystal clear. Day 2 we were gone form 9am to 7:30pm and returned to an unserviced room. Tried to call housekeeping, no answer. Had to call reception twice before I got an answer. Housekeeping arrived 1 hour later. The bell men were very friendly and helpful. I love midtown, but this hotel is as far east as you can go. Nice convenience store just up the street, 10 minute walk to Grand Central.

We've been in NY many times and stay in different hotels. This one is the best! Very stylish and clean inside, very good location. We had a room on 39th floor and the views were amazing.

I would only change the lack of shower doors

Posted May 29, 2014
Pros: Location, friendly staff, hors d'oeuvres.
Cons: Showers. There has to be an option to have a bathroom with a shower that allows for a dry bathroom floor.
The hotel experience was very pleasant. The staff was friendly. They had not cleaned the corridor from the dirty glasses of the prior guest when I checked in at 6pm, which I thought was not very good. Aside from that, the only thing I'd change is the shower's lack of a door as the bathroom floor is all wet after a shower. I know an open shower looks more modern, but it would be nice to be able to have a dry bathroom. My room number was 3038.
