“Little less than neutral”

The restaurant is fairly priced and the food was pretty good, but the service wasnt quite. We were waiting a while for our waitress so I asked where she was. Then I saw her in the bar area on her cell phone. We kept eating there throughout our stay, but just don’t expect too much. Some of the guys that drive the shuttle to the Newark Airport drive like bats out of hell! My friend and I couldn’t believe one of our guys was talking on his cell while driving! Then one night there were 3 guys blaring music in their cars in the parking lot next door. I called the front desk and they said they’d send security to check on it. The front desk called back and said that they found the noise but there was nothing they could do. These guys were on the other side of the hedge and security can’t even suggest that they keep it down. They said they’d switch our rooms but we didn't want to move. The music kept blaring so I called the Newark Police. I found a piece of fried chicken bone along the side of my bed. Our entire stay there we didn't have ANY fried chicken. I called the front desk and none of us know how long it was there. They gave us one room key. We went down to ask for a 2nd one. Well when they made the 2nd room key, they deactivated the 1st one. So we asked for another and when we returned to our room that night, all of our keys were deactivated. I think we ended up with 5 keys by the end of our 10 days. There WERE nice people and they fixed our rooms well each day.

Area recommendations

Go see New York City! It's amazing! BUT if you're staying here and actually are going into Manhattan for your main activities, GET A CLOSER HOTEL. Pay the extra money for a closer hotel. You will spend over the difference just on transportation trying to get to New York Penn Station from New Jersey. Trust me on this one. It's also very time consuming and frustrating. AND DON'T MISS YOUR STOP! You might end up on the wrong side of town like we did...

Getting around

If you're heading this way to see NYC, ***pick a closer hotel***!!! It may not look that far on a map, but it truly is. I wish someone would have told me that tidbit of advice. Pay the extra money to get a closer hotel to Manhattan. You'll spend maybe even more than the difference trying to get around. Plus it will take forever.

What to pack

Do leave a lot of extra room in your luggage! You never know when you'll be bringing home a giant Hershey bottle bank. Yep. True story.

“Great hotel”

Second year there and they've been great. Only drawback was WiFi not working in the room. It's great that they provide it but it would drop out and that made the stay unpleasant in that regard.

“Great Hotel”

Really like the place, 2nd time there. I was looking forward to having Internet in the room but it didn't work well this time! When it did it was great, but it came and went, and that was very annoying. Otherwise, very happy with the room and staff.

Nickel and dime you to death. For the price of one night's stay you should make the business center free of charge. What a hassle!!! Also, at 3:00 am it would have been nice to at least offer free coffee/tea service for hotel guests. That should be a given and surprised it wasn't. The cafe girl was more interested in tips than serving us a decent cup of coffee and the price?? C'mon.. even disgusting Starbucks tastes better and cheaper.

“My stay at Wyndham Garden Hotel Newark Airport”

It's a nice hotel close to Newark Airport. Hotel Shuttle runs every 20 minutes (daytime) between the hotel and the Airport and the Air Train P4 Stop (connection to NJ Transit). You can go to NYC with NJ Transit (time 35min to 1h10). The Hotel is quiet, Wifi and TV in the room.
