Solid hotel option near to the heart of NYC

Posted Feb 18, 2015
Pros: Good service on check in and check out, clean, well located
Cons: Room size is not huge, but appropriate for the cost and fact that we're talking NYC context
Location: Very near to shopping, restaurants, and Empire State Building. Subway stop is just nearby, and within a short taxi/uber ride to most tourist stops.
The Wyndham hotel provided a perfect stay for my work related visit to New York City. I chose the hotel based on the resonable cost and proximity to my known meetings and the Javits convention center. It's within walking distance of the subway, Eataly, and the Empire State Building. The hotel it's nice is clean and pleasant, nothing exceptional. The rooms are small and a bit old fashioned, and my room's window faced directly into office spaces across the street, but I wasn't there for the scenery. The Italian restaurant adjacent to the hotel is good, and the thin crust pizza place just down the block is GREAT. You won't starve while staying at this hotel, even in bad weather.

Just above average hotel

After staying in another Wydnham property up in Times Square, I was expecting a similar vibe for this Wydnham hotel. No such luck. The rooms was adequate and bathroom functional, however the hotel lacks a certain 'polish'. It was a little dated and I found the tea and coffee making facilities to be below standard. It doesn't have a lot of character and even though there is a restaurant attached like the Times Square property, it feels disconnected and bland. It's in a good location for walking down 5th Avenue for shopping and eating and is close to the subway. A 15 minute walk up to Times Square. There are some great coffee and eating places near by, but I felt the hotel and the street it's on overall, lacked that quaint Chelsea vibe I was after.

Excellent hotel as a sight seeing base.

Pros: Proximity to subways, price, quiet clean
Cons: Nothing comes to mind
Location: Easy walking distance to subways, restaurants.
Close walking distance to many subway routes. Rooms were on the small side, but we were expecting this in New York. Excellent value, price was right

Nice quiet hotel in Manhattan

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: Central location
Cons: A way for the shower to not get all over the floor, there are no real doors or walls on two sides of the shower area so water got out of the curtains
Hotel was small, but most NYC hotels are. It had a very updated feel. Very clean, quiet, and comfortable. Would stay in again.

Trevlig personal!

Posted Feb 3, 2015
Pros: Personalens bemötande var det bästa!
Cons: Jag hade ju föredragit att vara utan heltäckningsmattan i rummet! Men rummet var rent och snyggt så det gjorde inte så mycket!
Location: Bra läge mitt i Midtown. När till mycket.
Personalen var mycket trevlig och gjorde det lilla extra som gjorde våra semester ännu bättre!

Third visit

Posted Jan 27, 2015
Pros: Location, price, rooms
We have chosen the Wyndham Chelsea three times as our annual anniversary getaway hotel, as it is convenient to our home in Northern NJ and central to all that we enjoy in NYC. The check in and staff were great, and the location is amazing, but we were less than thrilled with the noise level in the hallways. It was not the other guests that were loud, rather the housekeeping staff. While we fully understand that they have to perform their tasks in a timely fashion, there was constant noise from 8:45 until 11 each morning. We are a busy couple with four children, and relish the potential of sleeping in without disturbance-unfortunately this was impossible over this recent stay. The doors seemed to be non-existent, with every sound and knock awakening us ( after long nights of NYC revelry !) This did not seem to be a problem on our last two visits, however, and we have always found the desk staff to by helpful and very cordial-and the price can't be beat for Manhattan!
