So-so property near Grand Central

Posted Jul 23, 2015
Pros: Location is really the only highlight I have for the Wyndham. It's a short walk to Grand Central so you can get anywhere in the are
Cons: Even though I arrived after scheduled check-in time, my room wasn't ready. Bathroom is very small.
I mistakenly booked this property as I had a poor experience in my previous stay last year. There's not a lot that's above average but its proximity to Grand Central is great for subway and Metro North access.

they will profile you ESPECIALLY if you book with a site like Expedia/kayak. my room was dirty, there was a hole in my sheets, lights didn't work, there were stains on the couch, the room smelled of sewage and you can hear EVERYTHING in the hallway. never again. horrible. was so excited to leave this place and book a nicer room at a hotel uptown.

Lousy hotel - shabby, location great o/w disappt

Posted Jul 21, 2015
The hotel is undergoing renovation and appears to be more focused on selling timeshares than on providing rooms where amenities are tended to. Some of the lights didn't work, knobs came off of bureau easily, construction sounds early in the morning, room not made up one day, crowded lobby. Won't be back.

AWFUL

Posted Jul 20, 2015
Pros: Location
Cons: Customer service, cleanliness, functioning gym with AC, rude staff
Location: It's midtown -plenty to do and see. Good shopping nearby and close to Grand Central
I stayed at the Wyndham for 1 night while in NY for work. It was an Expedia VIP hotel and there was a special on the rate, so I went with it. I arrived early to check in and my room wasn't ready, so they held my bag and the woman at reception said they would call once my room was ready. I never received a call -checked in around 7pm. They also sent me to the concierge for a VIP gift, which was a gift card to Bloomingdales. The woman at the concierge desk said they didn't have any and to try later. Not a big deal, but what was the point of telling me then not actually having it (I never got it BTW). In my room, I noticed that the furniture was a little old and dingy and my top bed sheet had a stain on it. It looked like a smudge of dirt, but I wasn't going to complain because I didn't want to make a big deal of it. I went down to the gym - when I got there, 2 of the 4 cardio machines were broken and it was incredibly hot and humid with no air circulating. I propped the door open and spoke with the housekeeper on the floor and she called the electrician to come turn on the air. I was there for an hour, no one came. When I got back to my room to shower, I noticed there was hair all in the bathtub and around the toilet. At that point, I called the front desk because it was disgusting. The manager first told me there was nothing he could do except send someone to clean the hair. Seriously? After putting up a fight, they finally moved my room. Worst experience ever

Wyndham 45 midtown NYC

Check in was late slow and very crowded. Room was not ready at check in. Noisy tour groups filled the hotel.

Great hotel

Posted Jul 7, 2015
Pros: The STAFF! From the front desk people, to the bellman and the activities people. The location and the room.
Cons: The elevators.
Location: The UN is at the end of 42nd street (2 blocks away). Grand Central Station is only about 3 blocks away and from there you can go anywhere you want.
Johanna greated us at the front desk and had us checked in and on our way to our room in less than 5 minutes. The room was excellent. We have stayed at Wyndham hotels and timeshares all over the U.S. and The staff at Wyndham 45 is among the best I have ever dealt with.

Room was spacious and comfortable. Wifi access was ok. TVs, mini fridge, and shower all worked great.

Mmmm

Room was a bit scruffy. Annoying shower (impossible to turn on without getting arm and head wet with cold water before the temperature was correct). Toilet flushing required considerable strength and dexterity. Undersized reception.

Close to Grand Central

Posted Jul 6, 2015
It was our first time in New York and we were looking for a hotel that was a walking distance to most attractions. True enough, Wyndham 45 was an easy walk to Grand Central where we took most of subway rides from. It wasnt a far walk from Times Square, UN bldg and Rockefeller too. Downside of the hotel (which is a work in progress) is it is has a tiny reception area and the couch in our room was old and dirty. Otherwise, everything was good!
