First let me say that every staff member we came into contact with was amazing starting with Mohammed at the front desk, the head of security who helped us access our room after some difficulty and all the support staff.. However, this is a very dated property with inadequate bedding and dismal hallways. We paid for a cityview room and were given a riverview room. I wasn't going to waste valuable time arguing about it so I just let it go but it really irritates me that we paid extra for nothing. When we arrived at our room the key didn't work, my husband went down and reported it, the key still didn't work. It took several people and 45 minutes to determine the battery in the door was dead and to replace it. Again, the staff was amazing. Stuff happens but surely there is some warning when the battery is about to die. The hotel is very well situated. It's close to subways, Penn Station, Broadway and Times Square. If you decide to stay here don't bother paying extra for views. You might not get them. And even if you do, the windows are filthy and moisture has gotten in between the panes and the views are blurry. All in all I wouldn't choose this hotel again.

Very old, never renovated rooms. Literally feels like you’re walking into a hotel from the 90s. The lobby is nice and elegant, but that’s about it. If you’re looking for a place to just stay/sleep, it’s fine. Not ideal for a hotel staycation. You’d have to buy everything else outside, including tea, coffee, water, hot water especially. Nothing is really provided other than the basics. I don’t think I’ll be staying at this hotel, again.

They sold out of my room type and gave me a downgrade, despite saying it was an upgraded view. The staff was a bit rude about policies that had not been communicated at check-in. The property is old, and shows it's age. The location is so convenient though - walked around all day and it was central enough to be able to drop things off and refresh between outings. Also, attended a game at MSG, and arrived via Penn Station which are right there. Might book again, but will need to be sure to get a discount again: it is not worth it at full price, especially not if the sell out of rooms and don't even offer a proper discount themselves.

The room I stayed in was absolutely nothing like the images in the booking. Overall it was pretty run down (cracked paint, damp in bathroom, old-fashioned and dull). Badly needed updating. Room was very small, much smaller than expected. Having stayed here twice in the past, admittedly over 10 years ago, I was very disappointed. The room I stayed in 12 years ago was more modern than this one. I brought a friend this time and frankly I was embarrassed.

This is a very good property. I felt very safe at the hotel and liked how close it was to transportation options. It's older (but has good updates) and has a lot of history. An iconic venue.

Good place to stay for the price if you aren’t super picky. I’d stay here again. No frills. No water bottles in the room, but luckily there is a CVS very close by, so we bought several bottles of water for our stay. We paid an extra $20 a night for an “executive room” that seemed like a normal small room with a mini fridge. The staff was friendly enough and the Tick Tock cafe next door had decent food and service. Not a good place to get picked up by Ubers because of the congestion and traffic in the area, especially during concerts at Madison square garden, but really easy to catch the subway from Penn station. The hotel had a lot of elevators which made it really easy to get to and from our room at all hours.
