Now WyndhamPosted Mar 8, 2014
Pros: Nice West Side location
Cons: room size in NYC always could be bigger
Location: West Side location close to K-Town, Madison Square Garden, south of Times Square, off the ACE subway lines and Penn Station
New Yorker is now a Wyndham hotel. Ok room size for NYC hotel, a little bigger than the queen bed. Several elevators for fast elevator service. Nice to have free beverages, and replaced each day.

Nice hotel near Penn Station.Posted Mar 7, 2014
Pros: Convenient location
Cons: Room renovations
Location: 2blocks from Penn Sta; walking dist to most Broadway venues; restaurants all around; short taxi rides to museums.
Convenient to train, to Broadway, easy taxi to museums/restaurants. Reasonable cost for NYC.

Great central location, close to Penn StationPosted Mar 6, 2014
The Hotel New Yorker on West 34th and 8th avenue is a fantastic place to stay in New York. Firstly it's close proximity to Penn Station make it ideal for travellers arriving from Newark. It is also ideal for attending events at Madison Square Garden and for department stores such as Macy's and JC Penneys, whilst the Empire State building is only 3 blocks east in 5th avenue. The Tick Tock diner located next door to the hotel and accessible via the hotel lobby was a great place for breakfast with friendly staff. The room was clean and presentable and all staff were very polite and respectful. Free WiFi came with our room rate and proved very useful. Typically in hotels this size (40 floors) waiting for elevators can be a pain but with 6 dedicated to floors under 20 and another 6 dedicated to floors between 20 and 40 we rarely waited longer than a minute. The hotel provided an airport shuttle service via a third party and also had a gym and business centre. The lobby was well staffed and clean. Overall I'd recommend the Hotel New Yorker to anyone looking to stay in New York for the first time or those more seasoned of visitors to Manhattan.

Pleasantly surprisedPosted Mar 6, 2014
Pros: The art-deco decorating. The knowledeable consierge and friendly front desk staff. The energetic, busy feel of the lobby.
Cons: A double bed is not a queen sized bed. Website and front desk clerk assured we had a queen bed - it was a double.
Location: On the corner of 8th and 34th. Macy's, Penn Station, Burgers & Cupcakes diner, 5th Avenue, bus stops, subways.
A 3-night stay. The room and hotel was generally clean and comfortable. The staff was professional and polite. The room was larger than I expected from NYC, but no frig or coffee pot. The location was perfect - close to Penn Station, a moderate walk to 5th Avenue and plenty to see and places to eat right near by. The view was uninspired, but with so much to see outside, we didn't care. The street noise was muted on the 29th floor, it was positively soothing.

Nice location, horrible facilitiesPosted Mar 6, 2014
Cons: Furniture way too old, carpets were dirty.
Location: Great location.
The room was literally a 1.5mx1.5m square. Totally disappointing, we could barely fit in there with our bags inside.

Great location, Great hotel!Posted Mar 5, 2014
We had the pleasure of staying at the New Yorker Hotel for 4 nights. We were up on the 37th floor, which actually worked out nice because it was quiet being that high up. The hotel staff was very pleasant and we were checked in in no time. The location was the best part! Right beside MSG center, right beside the subway and a short walk to times square, empire state building and much much more! The only downside was the size of our room which had the bed and hardly room for our suitcases. It would have been nicer and more comfortable to have a larger size room, although we weren't there to spend time in the room. (we travel frequently to Europe and the small size was comparable to European hotels). Another downside was the door to our hotel room wasn't very well sealed, it let in bright light all night long from big cracks around the door. It was definitely a safe location and the tik tok dinner attached served wonderful breakfast!! Over the weekend the hotel staff made sure everyone going to the elevators had a key card and it was very secure. There was construction going on at and around the outside of the hotel but it didn't bother us or obstruct our view one bit! We would definitely stay here again!

Mum & Daughter trip to NYCPosted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Location, very welcoming reception area and staff
Cons: Tea/coffee facilities in room or vending machine on landings
Location: Empire State building, Times Sq, 5th Ave. Subway entrance on corner right outside for A C E trains. Good if your coming in from JFK and Newark.
Great stay at the New Yorker, my love for NYC has been restored.

Art Deco and Midtown? Fabulous!Posted Mar 4, 2014
Pros: The New Yorker has a hard to beat location - midtown, and within walking distance to Times Square, and all of the plays/shows we attended.
Cons: The small bathroom needs a bit of updating, but it was very clean!
Location: Madison Square Garden, the theater district, Times Square, MoMa . . . all very close!
Our four nights at The New Yorker were lovely. Upon check-in, the woman behind the counter recommended a great pizza place, and other staff members were equally as friendly. This hotel is very quiet at night, which is a rarity in New York City! The decor in the lobby is not only beautiful but historic - even the lights above the elevator doors are created with Art Deco flair! Our room had two very comfortable, queen-sized beds, a bit of a view, and the housekeeping staff kept us happy with a coffee maker and coffee. Every staff member was courteous.
