Needs updating

Posted Jul 27, 2014
Pros: Walkable to town centre.
Cons: Room needs refreshing in all respects.
Stayed in the outhouse nearest the road. Old towels and pillow covers were not all an ideal "hotel white". No air-conditioning. Needs updating in most aspects. Staff where friendly and helpful.

Business trip.

Posted Apr 26, 2014
Pros: Food was good.
Cons: More welcoming to guests and minimal ironing facilities in bedrooms as a basic.
Location: N/A business trip.
Met with a frosty faced receptionist whom I dont think smiled the whole time I was checking in. Asked for a credit card to swipe and I gave her my Visa debit card (this is the card I always use in hotels) she pointed out that this was a debit card in a very condescending manner and then continued to swipe it anyway. Had just driven 4 hours to get there and only wanted to iron my clothes, have room service and go to bed. Once settled in room asked for an iron and board to be sent to my room - was told I would have to go back to reception and be shown to a laundry room where I could iron my clothes, by the same frosty faced receptionist. Made do with my creased clothes. Staff who brought my room service meal was very pleasant though. Bed was very uncomfortable and room right next to main road so couldnt get to sleep until after midnight.

Comfortable, friendly hotel

Posted Jun 13, 2013
Pros: Good service, and excellent food
Cons: Avoid room 12 - a lovely large room, but immediately above the kitchen fan exhaust!
Location: Near town centre, and easy to find fro A1
Generally very good. The hotel is very well placed just out of the centre of Newark, a short distance from the A1 and was easy to find. There is plenty of parking - most of it in a public car park adjacent, but passes are supplied. The food was excellent, generous portions and well cooked. The staff were without exception very efficient and friendly. the public rooms are well decorated and furnished, If I have one criticism, it is that my bedroom was rather tired looking, with pine furniture and coloured duvet. But it was clean, and everything worked. .

Dreadful hotel

Posted Oct 20, 2012
Pros: Checkout
Cons: Bar music being to loud at 01:20am
Location: Newark
Could not sleep, was kept awake most of the night by the music in the bar. At 01:20am I decided to go down to tell the night porter to find it was the night porter playing the music. I stay in best westerns a lot due to business but this was a total nightmare as I was up in morning for business at 05:30 so no sleep. I am thinking of reporting this to best western.

Convenient for a business trip

Posted Oct 17, 2012
Pros: Staff attitude
Cons: Outside appearance
Location: see above
The staff welcome and service was excellent. The outside of the building was a little depressing, but once inside - in the bar and restaurant areas this was very pleasant, comfortable and welcoming. My single room was fine for the one night stay but would not have been my choice for a longer stay as there was no bath, no pleasant outlook and the room was small. However, the price was also low - so basically I got what I paid for.
