Nice place to stay when visiting New York

Posted Jun 30, 2015
The staff was helpful in getting us situated in the hotel. The free parking was a huge factor in my choosing this hotel. We parked our car on Tuesday and didn't get back into it until we left on Friday. Close enough to walk to PATH for our commute to NY city. I would stay here again.

Disappointing

Posted Jun 25, 2015
I called for room service on a Wednesday night around 6pm. First attempt ib wad hung up on. Second attempt i wad told "no, we're to busy". I had to leave my room and go to the restaurant to speak with a manager. The manager took my order and said he would personally deliver the food. When my food came to my room it was cold and the manager did not deliver the food. Then i had to go back to the restaurant to pay for my food. Very disappointing experience. The hotel acted like this was nothing within their control. I'll try another hotel next time.

Nice hotel, close to the performing arts center.

Posted Jun 21, 2015
Pros: Hotel staff was pleasant, rooms were clean and they had a variety of food for breakfast.
Cons: Parking is in the back of the hotel it was a little tricky to find. Signs to parking lot would help.
Location: Hotel is across the street from NJPAC and walking distance to Penn Station.
Great hotel, good location, staff was very courteous and deluxe breakfast was good. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

Nice hotel near NYC

Posted Jun 20, 2015
Pros: Clean, quiet, close to Newark Penn
Cons: Hot water, ability to choose whether to warm or cool the room
Location: The performing arts center and hockey arena are very close by.
This hotel is in downtown Newark within walking distance of Newark Penn station so an easy train ride into Manhattan and other destinations. It is also a considerable bargain compared to staying in Manhattan. The rooms were small for 4 occupants but very clean. We were on the 7th floor on the front of the hotel and found it quiet with a nice view of the park. There were plenty of outlets for all our gadgets and the wifi was adequate. Staff was always pleasant and helpful. The water pressure was good but the hot water produced an unpleasant iron tint and smell so no baths were taken. It was also pretty cool at night and the desk clerk said it's because they have switched over to air-conditioning so no heat is available. Parking is scarce but they have attendants who will help you if the lot is full. The worst part of staying here is the condition of the neighborhood. Immediately around the hotel and towards Penn station and the hockey arena were fine. We walked to the Dino Barbecue several blocks away but took a less direct route back to the hotel. What a difference a few blocks make! There are very few options for food close to the hotel especially after about 10PM. Fortunately, we did locate a great Chinese place in Harrison that delivered to us for next to nothing. Overall I would recommend the Robert Treat hotel with minor reservation.

Nice hotel with free parking downtown

Posted Jun 19, 2015
Pros: included parking and breakfast.
Cons: Enlarge the breakfast area by removing middle wall or create pass-through on far side.
Location: near NJPAC, NJIT, Rutgers Newark, Newark Penn Station to catch train to NYC, Ironbound.
Had to go to NJIT and proximity is ideal with free parking and free breakfast. Hard to beat value and location.

Nice hotel with poor staff

Posted Jun 17, 2015
Pros: room was clean
Cons: staff !
Went to New York city having there van drop us off at penn station was told to call when we got from New York for van to pick us back up and bring us back to the hotel. Called three times each time was told they would send van right out to pick us up. After 45 minutes I decided to walk with my kids to the hotel using my phone for directions. When we arrived at the hotel the van was park out front with the driver talking to the front desk clerk. I was so mad that I decided to wait till the next day to confront the front desk. The next day when I told them about what happen they just said they got busy that night picking up people at airport. When I inquired about why they told us they would send the van right out or the fact it was parked out front when we arrived from our walk from penn station they just stated they were busy.
