Pros: It was very clean and convenient to restaurants and shops
Cons: Longer hours for breakfast
We were very tired after traveling from VA to New Jersey. The hotel was very clean and the staff was very nice. the pantry was well stocked and the price list was posted with all the prices. We would definitely stay here again.

Meh...Posted Jul 28, 2014
Pros: It was around the corner from the Prudential Center.
The check-in staff (not the desk manager) could stand to be a little less rude. I'm sure being busy & subject to guest requests is tough at times, but that's not an excuse to pull attitude on the next guest you deal with.

Nice hotel in downtown NewarkPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: Clean and neat
Cons: Customer service.
Location: Joe's Crab Shack directly next door was very good.
I came to this hotel with my 6 year old daughter for a Katy Perry concert at the Prudential Center. The hotel was very nice and I was extremely happy with the door man. He was very nice and courteous. I overall enjoyed every part of the hotel except for the girls at the main desk. They were polite and all, but more like it was fake. When I checked in, they told me that if I forgot some personal items to call them and they have everything free of charge. I called about nail clippers, a toothbrush, and benadryl and they told me the directions to walk 15 minutes to the Rite Aid and they were talking to me like I was dumb or something. Then when I checked out, I asked what my total bill was since when I ordered food they charged it to my room, and they said since I booked with expedia they could not tell me how much parking or my food total was and that I would get that information from them. They just seemed like they did not want to be bothered. But besides the 2 girls at the desk, I loved everything else about the hotel.

Great if coming to the Prudential Center in NewarkPosted Jul 14, 2014
Pros: It was clean. It was right next to the Prudential Center.
Cons: Breakfast could be included with your stay.
Location: If you are going to an event at the Prudential Center, this is right next to it. Dinosaur BBQ is also within walking distance.
We were coming into Newark for a Katy Perry concert at the Prudential Center and so this hotel was perfect. It is right next to the Prudential Center, so we could park our car in the parking garage and not have to move it again until we left the next morning. If you are not use to being in a city, as we aren't, this is the way to go. We walked to Dinosaur BBQ, which is also right across from the Prudential Center, and walked to the concert later. The hotel itself is clean and new feeling. The rooms are nice and comfortable. We had breakfast at the hotel (not included) and everyone was happy with their selections. Know ahead of time that you do have to pay for parking in the parking garage, but this is the way in the city. The hotel is in a sketchy neighborhood, but if you are going to the Prudential Center, this is where it is. We felt safe in the hotel. You have to use your room key for the elevator and someone at the front desk lets you in if you are coming in after 11 pm, as we were the night of the concert.

Very nice hotel. Close to train station.Posted Jul 8, 2014
Pros: Very clean.
Cons: Vent/fan needs to be added to the bathrooms for ventilation.
Location: Near the train station. We did not do anything near by. We rode the train into New York everyday.
The hotel was very clean and refreshing. Everyone was friendly and pleasant and so willing to help.

Excellent hotel, minus the bizarre lobby smellPosted May 16, 2014 on Hotels.com
Comfortable and pleasant hotel once you get over the metallic smell in the lobby. Everything measures up quite nicely except the following: Food is highly overpriced, and the surrounding neighborhood is quite sketchy. I don't think we'll ever visit Newark again, but I'd gladly stay at another Courtyard.
