Great Staff - Not So Great Facility

Posted Apr 21, 2015
Pros: The hotel was conveniently located in Penn Station which was great for us since we spent most of our time in NYC.
Cons: The hotel should put microwaves and fridges in the rooms and offer free Wi-Fi
Location: Great restaurants such as Spain and Dinosaur BBQ. NJPAC is not far away and the Devils' arena is within walking distance
Let me start by saying that the staff at the Hilton Penn Station is wonderful; from the front desk staff to housekeeping. All were eager to assist us with any need or issue we had and they all, when asked exceeded what we asked of them. The hotel is another story. First, let's start by the fact that there are no microwaves or refrigerators in the rooms. I appreciate that they probably want to encourage their guests to patronize the vendors located within the Gateway Center and Penn Station and we most certainly did. However, because we are not gluttons, we could not eat all of the food that we purchased and would have loved to have been able to store our food and reheat it later. I was forced to throw away leftovers from a wonderful restaurant called Spain because, though I ate some cold leftovers the next day, the portions were so generous, that even then, I could not eat it all, but I could not risk eating food left out for two days. My husband said that the coffee that the hotel supplies each room was weak and that the coffee maker was broken. Since we are mainly Starbucks patrons, we didn't bring this to the attention of the staff. Finally, the lack of free Wi-Fi. Most chains that are not as "high end" as the Hilton offer free Wi-Fi and I believe that Hilton should consider offering this as a free amenity to guests; as Wi-Fi now is just as essential as phones in the room; the internet is how most people communicate now.

Very clean and modern. Front desk staff upon check in wasn't very friendly. She looked unhappy to be there

Excellent!

I had a very nice experience except the fact that you hear all the cars honking on McCarter highway. Other than that the hotel is fine. I recommend it.

Love the staff here.

Pros: Everything
Cons: Connected rooms with bolted doors in between do not provide enough privacy if there is a loud person next door, they gave me a new room on request.
Location: Great location
While I had to wait for a bit at the airport for the shuttle (due to extreme traffic and rush hour conditions, I dont blame the hotel for this), the hotel staff just made the whole experience awesome for me. Right from the shuttle driver to the check in staff and the housekeeping staff, I was very pleased with everyone. Everyone was respectful, considerate and had a big smile on their face. Clean rooms. Good service. Great location close to Penn station. What else can one ask for from a hotel?

Nicest staff ever!

Posted Apr 14, 2015
Pros: The staff
Cons: A refrigerator would have been nice.
Location: A little bit far from NYC. There were delays with the Path train. I missed one when I got there and the next train did not arrive for 40 mins.
This hotel has the friendliest staff. They all went out of their way to be helpful and made our stay very pleasant. Thank you!!!

Pros: location
We stayed there only one night to be close to public transportation to access New York. It was easy to park the car and we had to walk 5 minutes to get to the Penn NJ train station. Well located. We found used kleenex on the bedroom floor and under the bed, hair in the bathroom sink. The maid came at 8:30 AM, knocked and tried to open the door. She woke us up to realize she had the wrong room... Overall, good hotel, with some minor issues here and there. When we checked out we asked for a receipt, after 20min the receipt was not printed.... we gave up. Now I see that I have fees on my credit card waiting for approval, and they aren't suppose to be there because everything was paid in advance... I'll wait and see.
