Probably best in value & amenity in Honeysuckle
Posted Jan 29, 2013
Pros: Size, design & feel
Cons: Wasn't spotlessly clean
Location: Right near the civic train station, Newcastle museum & Honeysuckle nightlife.
Hassle free stay, perfect location in Honeysuckle. Able to check in early, room was nicer than I expected. Price was great. Had an in room safe & nice toiletries as well as laundry w/ washing powder. If I was super super picky the only con was lack of bench space in the bathroom for the ladies.

A great place to stay
Posted Jan 19, 2013
Very nice place to stay, so much so that we extended our stay as it was so relaxing! The only thing I could reccommend for a little improvement is for some window coverings in the bedroom. The mornings were a little bright,

Underwhelming
Posted Jan 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
When I arrived I was sent to a room that had not been made up - un-made bed, dirty sheets, towels on the floor. I was given another room immediately, but that night, found a cockroach in the bathroom - there was also left over food in the freezer in the apartment kitchen. Given the high rate, I had expected this to be an upmarket experience in Newcastle. I've travelled extensively in the past 25 years and have stayed in everything from cheap dives to 5 star suites. I thought this hotel was overpriced for the quality - cheap fittings and furniture, noisy area still undergoing construction nearby, lots of drunks walking around from nearby pubs and bars. The only saving grace - the staff member who checked me in. She was horrified I'd been sent to a room that had been overlooked by housekeeping, and changed it over so quickly I didn't have time to be upset. I can't fault her service - it was the best thing about the entire experience. In hindsight, I wouldn't book an apartment style room as a single traveller for one night - these rooms are obviously aimed at couples or groups sharing rooms.

Short Retreat

Very comfortable hotel. Initial service not too warm - but in fairness I did drag myself into the lobby out of the rain wearing old shorts and a t-shirt. Lovely neighbourhood with some interesting restaurants along the wharf. Would recommend the hotel.

Upgraded to penthouse- really nice!
Posted Jan 28, 2012 on Hotels.com
We got a surprise upgrade from a studio/1BR to a penthouse suite, which was pretty nice! The balcony was huge, the bathrooms were nice, the bed was good, the kitchen was great (nice view!)...we had a very comfortable stay here. A note- coming off the train, cross the parking lot instead of walking along and around the streets (it's much quicker and easier to find that way).

Chifley NewCastle-new, clean, close to restaurants
Posted Jan 5, 2012 on Hotels.com
The serviced apartment was new, clean with modern interior. Close to fine bars and restaurants, just in front of the visitor information and maritime centre. 2km walk to newcastle and nobby beach. The only demerit for me was they charge $18 for parking. The room is serviced every three days only, otherwise there will be surcharge, which was ok for me for a one night stay.

Nice new hotel

The only complaints I have are the lack of counterspace in the bathroom and the cost of the internet service.
