A stain in the reputation of Newcastle hoteliers.Posted Oct 19, 2013
Cons: New ownership and refurbishment.
Location: Find a better hotel.
The hotel resembled a hovel, was poorly maintained and smelt musty, at best. The person on reception attempted to charge £2 for a dire breakfast, £2 for Internet and then to add insult to injury, asked for £5 parking only after I had left my car in the parking lot overnight! Neglecting to mention, of course, that until 0800 am the parking outside was free. Really, don't stay in this hotel; you'll be making a foolish false economy if you do.

Not goodPosted Aug 23, 2012 on Hotels.com
The room was TINY. Thick dust on lampshade and doors. Stained floor. Overall worst hotel i have stayed in. Pool table was out of order, service was not good to say the least. At the entrace there was a large bin, not what you want to see when staying overnight. Cheap rooms, cheap service and unclean tiny rooms. Spend a little extra and get a nice hotel.

Was I lucky?Posted Mar 22, 2012 on Hotels.com
I had read other reviews about the hotel before I left, and on reading them I was a bit concerned at my boss's choice of hotel for my two night visit.. But I must say that I was pleasantly surprised! My room was clean, and had a lovely ensuite shower room. The bed was comfortable with clean sheets. Yes, the breakfast was a bit limited - cereal, juice and toast - but it suited me. Staff were efficient, maybe could have smiled more. The hotels location isn't brilliant - and is a 10 minute car journey from the city centre. It would have been good to have had double glazing in the room to eliminate early morning traffic noise. But in conclusion, I would stay here again - you get what you pay for, and this is really good value for money.

Grainger HotelPosted Nov 9, 2011 on Hotels.com
I don't suppose it was the hotel's fault that the police cordoned off the street due to a violent incident, but let's just say it's not in the nicest part of town. It was cheap though.

Grainger Hotel in NewcastlePosted Oct 21, 2011 on Hotels.com
I arrived on a Friday after i prepaid for 3 days. As the hotel was standard was very poor and in no way acceptible i left after one night. If you have any chance to avoid this hotel, avoid it. One the worst hotels i have been to.
