This place is old and dirty. Place was a dump. Only good thing I can say about the place was the breakfast was ok. Stay away.

cold room, comfy beds

Posted Jan 6, 2014 on Hotels.com
Bit disappointed, heating not working had to use portable heater to warm the room on our arrival, bathroom could be updated, bed comfortable, good enough for short stay, not so for something longer.

Exploring Elliot Clan Roots

Posted Sep 4, 2013 on Hotels.com
My son and I stayed at the Liddesdale Hotel for the Elliot Clan Gathering August 30, 2013. The hotel was the perfect location for us. There were several other Elliot Clan members staying at the hotel which made it very nice. Tracie and all of her staff made us feel very welcome. Chef Thomas did a very nice job on the meals. This hotel is a perfect place to explore the Scotish Border especially if you are an Elliot.

Disappointing

On the web site the four poster room gives the wrong impression.I expected a cosy romantic hotel, instead it is just a "pub with rooms" in a uninspiring location

Price for a single room not considered very competitive given the size of the room, ver nice breakfast though.

New Year's getaway in the Borders

Posted Jan 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
Whilst first impressions count, they didn't spoil our stay at the Liddesdale Hotel Inn - and things only got better. The room was reasonably large, clean and tidy, although lacking in towels and toilet paper. The TV remote was missing, but it was discovered hiding behind the bedside drawer unit. These little problems were quickly resolved and the missing items brought to our room.My partner and I decided to eat in, as we'd previously checked out the menus on-line. We had a choice of rooms to sit in - three separate rooms in the dining area or the bar itself. The dining areas were quite comfortable and quiet. We were informed immediately that our main choices would take a little bit longer to cook than the other options, but we were happy with this and the service provided. The staff were extremely pleasant, very helpful and efficient. The food was very tasty - and in just the right amounts so not to leave us questioning the wisdom of opting for dessert. Breakfast was ample, again very tasty but thankfully didn't feel as though it stuffed us too full. Service was quick and the staff very friendly. Whilst our initial impressions were slightly lowered due to the welcome and lack of towels, we eventually left the Liddesdale Hotel Inn with a good feeling about the establishment, and a desire to return once more later in the year.

Not a good time

Posted Aug 21, 2012
Pros: Leaving
Cons: The reception and lack of welcome
Location: Location was stunning with great views
I arrived at the hotel at eight and was advised that they only served food till half past so had to eat else were. Not a good reception on arrival and the discription of having sky tv and free wi fi was incorrect. Eat at the hotel next door and this was the welcome and reception I exspected from this hotel
