One of the the most beautiful hotel/resort I've stayed at. The pool is amazing as well as the friendly staff!

Pros: Excellent facilities
Cons: Pool service
Location: Good location (albeit not technically on the beach)
A terrific property with generally a great staff but a few wrinkles on our stay. It was July 4th weekend so a busy time but not being allowed to sit at the pool at 11am due to "overcapacity" (after paying $1000/night for a room) seemed unfair (especially when it appeared some non-guests from the OC neighborhood may have been using the facilities. Also the wait to get food at the pool ranged from 1 hour to 1:30 minutes for a salad or a chicken sandwhich (which by the eay were excellent). That spoke of a lack of planning for the holiday weekend. Otherwise an enjoyable place and one that we would return to.

Best hotel on our So. Cal trip

Posted Jul 11, 2015
Pros: location, room size and quality, breakfast buffet, amenities
we stayed in 5 hotels over 5 days, and this hotel was the best experience of them all. We stayed at a Ritz carlton, a Four Seasons, and two boutique hotels - all were nice, but Pelican Hill was the best overall resort and the best value (though it is inexpensive). But the cost we paid ($300) was worth it.

Quality accommodations that are quiet and restful. Feels more like a high end boutique than the large property that it is.

I am torn

Posted Jun 27, 2015
Pros: HOTEL GROUNDS AND ROOM ARE GORGEOUS
Cons: SMALL DETAILS
Location: NEARBY TO DOWNTOWN LAGUNA, SHOPS AND GALLERIES.
THE HOTEL IS BEAUTIFUL; HOWEVER, UPON CHECKING OUT, THE EXPERIENCE TOOK A TURN FOR THE WORSE. THE CLERK AT THE DESK GAVE ME THE FINAL BILL OF ANOTHER GUEST. PARTIALLY MY FAULT THAT I DIDNT LOOK AT IT IMMEDIATELY, BUT WHEN I REALIZE THE MISTAKE, I IMMEDIATELY CALLED FROM THE ROAD, AND WAS ASSURED IT WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF AND SHE WOULD SEND ME THE CORRECT BILL. I THEN RECEIVED AN EMAIL WITH A BILL THAT WAS IN MY NAME WITH THE CORRECT ROOM NUMBER, BUT THE ADDRESS OF SOMEONE IN A DIFFERENT STATE WITH NUMEROUS ROOM CHARGES THAT DID NOT BELONG TO ME. I IMMEDIATELY CALLED AGAIN AND WAS ASSURED I WOULD GET A CALL BACK THE NEXT MORNING, BUT DIDN'T RECEIVE ANYTHING. I ATTEMPTED TO REACH SOMEONE IN ACCOUNTING THE FOLLOWING MORNING AFTER LEAVING TWO MESSAGES ON MACHINE, BUT STILL NOTHING. FINALLY AFTER THREE ATTEMPTS, SOMEONE SAID THEY WOULD STRAIGHTEN IT OUT. JUST THINK THAT FOR BEING SO PRICEY FOR A ONE NIGHTS STAY (LESS THAN 20 HOURS FOR 600.00) , THEY SHOULD PAY A LITTLE MORE ATTENTION TO THE SMALL DETAILS. THE HOTEL IS GORGEOUS, BUT I DON'T KNOW THAT I WOULD STAY AGAIN.

Unbelievable resort, restaurants and property. Very few places like this in the United States. Beds perfect, rooms exquisite, pools grand. It's as good as it gets.

30th Birthday Celebration

Pros: Top-notch service and the views.
Cons: Nothing!
Location: Newport Coast is wonderful. Javier's Mexican Restaurant and the Beachcomber are a must. Head up to Corona Del Mar for fun restaurants and bars.
Everything about Pelican Hill is top-notch. From the Coliseum Pool, to the friendliness and professionalism of the staff, to the attention to detail and sincerity, this place is world-class. We were warmly greeted by staff when we checked in. Our room was close and conveniently accessed to the pool. We had dinner at The Andrea, where no expense was spared. We were greeted with two glasses of champagne, and our server was friendly, knowledgeable and provided excellent service. The dessert layered spread was sensational. On our last day, we spent time at the spa, where we received excellent and friendly service before checking out of the hotel. If you are looking for the premier Orange County hotel, stay at Pelican Hill.

Casual and elegant

Pros: Beautiful location ....above Crystal Cove Beach on the Newport Coast.....minutes from Laguna or Newport Beach.
Location: Walks on the Beach....Golf and swim at the resort. Fine or casual dining minutes away.
We were treated to attentive, friendly staff. They were always near and very responsive.
