My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights in August. The room had everything we were expecting and was great for a two night stay, 10 minutes from downtown Newport. It did smell a little moldy, but overall met our expectations.

Not too far from the beach

Hotel was what you would expect from a Marriott. Helpful staff and clean. Ideal for a short stay exploring the beach and Newport's mansions.

Modern option, convenient indoor/outdoor pool

Posted Aug 31, 2014
Pros: Location, modern lifestyle approach, indoor/outdoor pool.
Cons: Attention to detail by cleaning staff.
Location: It is a 10-12min ride to beautiful downtown, and to its equally beautiful beaches.
The hotel is 10 min from downtown Newport and its beaches, so location is very convenient, despite not being steps from the beach. The front desk personnel is outstanding, always in a good mood and ready to help. The "bistro" style of the restaurant fits very well with our modern lifestyles. Rather than getting a generic buffet for breakfast, the café-style worked best for us - specially when by paying $10 you get $20 dollar credit, it becomes a very economically efficient option, with a menu for all tastes. We liked the idea of menu ordering from a café board. Also, the café personnel was excellent. The combined indoor/outdoor pool is ideal for all weather. Kids find it fun to shift between both areas. The gym is a bit small and enclosed, but the equipment is high quality. Gyms need to get better... although we recommend driving and parking on Memorial Dr and run around the mansions and along the coastline... unbeatable. The room was generally clean; it appears the hotel was remodeled not long ago. However, the cleaning staff was not impeccable on cleaning... a gum wrap here, a little piece of chocolate there, they left two cereal trays behind when our room was cleaned one day... it seemed the particular staff assigned to our room might have been a bit sloppy in attention to detail, rather than overall cleaning. Towel policy regarding reusability would work... if they ever dried out in the room...

Nice Location

Posted Aug 30, 2014
Pros: Of all the hotels that we have stayed at, this hotel had the most comfortable beds.
Cons: A fridge in the room and a gluten-free menu at the hotel.
Location: Hotel is close to West and East Main Road, great shops and diners.
This hotel had the most comfortable beds of any hotel we have ever stayed. The room was clean and quiet. The staff was very professional.

Close to Newport, but have to drive to town

Posted Aug 11, 2014
Pros: Good parking and nice pool. Modern and colourful. Great free wifi.
Cons: Smell of room and cut the fir tree down and let some light in! A shuttle downtown would also help.
Location: A way from Newport and MIT a lot there... A chili restaurant and petrol stations but not much else.
ok but a little way out of Newport town and not a lot around it in terns of restaurants. Clean hotel and modern but a lot of the rooms seemed very dark - we had a big fir tree a couple of feet from the patio door so no room to sit and the room was very dark. It also had a strange smell - not sure whether it was damp or smoke. Our room also had a connecting door which made it very noisy as you could hear everything going on next door e.g the TV and unfortunately we had very noisy neighbours who had the TV on all night and an alarm call at 6am and then just talked very loudly not stop until 9am... It then went quiet so assume they went to sleep but clearly had no respect for other guests. Overall ok but pricy for what it is but that is perhaps Newport prices - I then spent two nights in a hyatt in Boston for the same price for a far superior stay.

Dear Maza Thank you for your nice comments about liking our Hotel and staff. We are just 3 miles from Downtown Newport, but if you were in town this past weekend it may have seemed a longer distance in the traffic. I do hope you will stay with again if your travels bring you back this way. Patti

Close to Newport!!!

Posted Jul 9, 2014
Pros: Close to Newport, and lots of stores
Cons: More staff working the food area, only one person trying to take care of the food and bar!
Location: Center of Newport 3 miles. Stop and Shop, lots of stores and restaurants, easy access
This hotel was like 3 miles from Newport! It was nice and clean. The little food area with bar needs more staffing!

Nice, but...

Posted Jul 9, 2014
The hotel was nice. The problem we had was the door to our room didn't seal out the noise in the hall. Usually in a hotel you hear the voices walking by kinda muffled, but in this hotel I kept waking up in the middle of the night thinking people were in my room.
