Upon arrival when we ask about the pool, was told it was closed. signs on desk only mention the outdoor pool being closed and the noise that may cause. Was told it was too bad bc we already pre-paid. I did my own research and hotel viking has pool passes for $20 a day and so we went and used their pool since we had kids with us. Staff was unfriendly about this situation and did not offer any suggestion. the FIRST photo of this hotel is of a pool that does not exist

Our pool area has been closed for renovations since November and will not open again until April. This information is posted on Sonesta's website as well as all third-party websites since the closure. I am sorry this information was missed. You were offered at check in to cancel without penalty. The agent informed that you prepaid through Expedia and that they would have to process your refund. You spoke to your group and collectively decided to stay. You mentioned that you would check the pool at the Viking is why you were not offered an alternative solution. I hope you were able to enjoy your stay and hopefully you will return in the Spring and enjoy the new remodeled pool area.

Looks pretty new, but the building is over 30 years old. The hot tub (and pool) were closed for refurbishing. It would has been nice to know before hand; I was really looking forward to a nice relaxing hot tub. But it did not make the trip less worth it.

I loved the property, but i wish the cafe was manned and served a real breakfast, lunch and dinner overall it was good place

Only really down fall to the stay was prople running up and down hallways nonstop till 3 am w my kids it was disrespectful cuzz my 3 kids were quieter than 3 adults running around!!!!

Please accept my apologies for the inconvenience. We had a large children's sports group in house with limited supervision from parents. In the future we will have a no tolerance policy and use local law enforcement to address these situations and avoid guest disruption. Again, our apologies for the groups poor behavior.

Hot water was shut off for a pretty long time during my stay. The rooms are old and could be cleaner. Staff was incredibly friendly.

We unfortunately experienced waking up to a band aid on our bed. Thankfully the hotel staff helped Us and set us up with a new room. But still was concerning to wake up with a band aid in bed.

Not all information about the property was explained upon check-in. (ie. pool & gym location and hours, housekeeping services - or lack thereof!). I was there for a wedding, as were many other people, but they never asked me nor gave me the itenirary and transportation information, until I asked. Also, the hallways smelled horrible, clearly smoking of all kinds was taking place in the rooms, including ours which has a strange disinfectant smell. Finally, 2 large towels, 2 washcloths, and 1 hand towel, for two people for two days, with no housekeeping, is just being cheap and unacceptable!! Don't stay here!

This hotel was located in a great location with easy access to the Newport winery and other good restaurants in the area, however, the hotel itself seemed pretty out-dated and was not the cleanest. I paid extra for a balcony/patio room and was placed in a dirty room that had no balcony and was facing parking lot/fire hydrant. The bathroom had hair all over it and toilet was never cleaned. The bathroom sink was also completely cracked all over like it was smashed with something. The staff was very kind and accommodating to our needs and were able to place us in a cleaner and updated room with a balcony. The overall hotel setup inside was kind of confusing. The hotel only had one elevator and it was located on the total opposite side of the hotel lobby. Once bringing our luggage across the hotel on the first floor to the elevators, we then had to travel back across the hotel again to get to our room. We just used the stairs after bringing our belongings up to begin with. The pool and hot-tub were both open as well.

Hotel review
My stay this week at the Sonesta Select was again for business. when i entered the hotel i was met with a friendly front desk attendant and given my room key. i proceeded to my room on the 2nd floor where i entered my room and turned on the light to where i found the light flickering and not working properly. i was not to happy about that and I also noticed that the rungs down the hallway were dirty and appeared to be stained.

The staff was kind, courteous, helpful and respectful. They made the stay pleasant. :) The elevator seemed a little jenky.... last inspection was like 5 years ago. That can't be good. :( The bathroom paper products were sub par. :(

Couch had bleach stains. Kids running around the halls and yelling at 12 pm The ac smelled like mold Stained carpet in halls Under construction was napping with shades closed and one of the workers doing construction was on our balcony taking the caution tape off and was trying to open the door screen door / scared us to death Room looked dated / payed more for a balcony that over looked the parking lot balcony was small balcony and didn’t resemble pictures on website Super disappointed Won’t stay again

Mediocre hotel
Hotel room was OK. The shower didn't seem that clean. The TV remote didn't work. Had to go down to get a new one. The TV service was blurry and kept stuttering. Was not worth what I spent on the room.

Total dump. Entire hotel stunk like a chinese food restaurant. Carpets were nasty. Towels were like sandpaper. Mattress was like a trampoline. Walls were paper thin. And the supposed patio was a bunch of loose rocks with a crappy chair. Total waste of money. The board of health should pay a visit.

Like - well located but required transportation to get into Newport's center. Did not like - emergency exit door locked and couldn't get out of the building in an emergency. Room was not supplied -- there was 4 of us and only supplies for 2 (towels, paper cups, etc.) Room rate was reasonable for the time of year but absolutely nothing came with it. Their snack breakfast was pathetic and the bfast room not even minimally stocked. I would not stay here again,

Everything was good except when we checked in they gave us 2 queen beds per room insread of kings like we booked and they did not have any kings left. I do not blame the hotel because when ecpedia sent over the reservations to the hotel ecpedia told them queens so that was disappointing

Great location . No breakfast provided . Had option to pay which I did croissant seemed stale disappointing. Room on check in bathroom didn’t seemed clean Could have used more towels in room Pool area and outdoor fire pit was very nice.
