“Home away from home near Newport”

This was my second stay and again, I was impressed. All the staff was very attentive to a guest's needs, the room was thoroughly serviced each day (something not to be taken for granted anymore, I've discovered), and the location can't be beat. One morning, after a full house and lots of showers had been taken, the hot water heater went out. It was a Sunday and they weren't sure if they could get someone out to fix the gas line. They rang each room and explained that they had made arrangements for all guests to stay at a neighboring hotel that night, at no expense, just in case. It proved not to be necessary, but that they went to this trouble was impressive.

“Can't wait to go back”

One of the nicer places my husband & I have stayed. Beautiful view from the upper balcony; just like the photos showed so I wasn't disappointed. Staff was very attentive & helpful. The rooms were clean. Breakfast was good and coffee always fresh. Hotel is within walking distance to dining establishments in Middleport. There is also a shuttle service available for a small fee to transport you to the beach or downtown Newport. We definately will return and stay again.

“Great stay in Middletown”

The hotel is a hidden gem. The hotel is up on a hill and the view is a sprawling view of the water and the town of Middletown. The staff is so helpful, the price so reasonable for a stay 5 minutes from Newport. I didn't use it, but they also have a shuttle o Newport which I would recommend as parking in season is difficult. Cute little breakfast room for continental breakfast. I am going back in a week.

“Very enjoyable trip”

I have stayed here several times. This time when I walked in the woman at the front desk, Katie, knew my name and told me she had an upstairs room for me. She remembered that I always ask for an upstairs room. The view from there is beautiful. The room I had this time was very clean, thanks to Tanya. There is a small continental breakfast in a cute little breakfast room, that is fine for people on the go. There is also always fresh fruit which you can grab during the day. The motel is an older one. I enjoy staying in motels that aren't a typical chain, as I find they have more personality. I wasn't disappointed. The Knights Inn is located in Middletown which is so very close to Newport without paying the Newport prices for a place to stay.. You also are in walking distance to the beach, and the Cliff Walk. Just a note. If you do go to Newport, be sure to try out The Malt on Broadway. It is a new restaurant and pub. Great food, great atmosphere.

“Great place for the money!!!”

This place is a great value! The hotel itself is nothing fancy. The view and location are incredible. It's within walking distance of the Newport beaches, restaurants and nightlife (the hotel is up on a hill and looks down on the strip directly). However it is just removed enough that it's peaceful and quiet. The best of both worlds really...relaxing and peaceful yet a 1/4 mile walk to town...really can't beat it! I will be going back for sure!

“Second time -a little disappoined”

The first time I stayed there I was in a really nice room and had no complaints. This time the room had a very mildew smell to it and there was damage on the wall in the bathroom. There were spider webs on the lawn furniture, that stayed there the whole time so did not make it very inviting to sit down. We were there for 3 nights and webs were there the whole time- Luckily we did broing our own chairs but adirondack chairs seemed so inviting before looking up close. Ice room is disgusting. Big dust balls all over floor that were also there for the whole stay. If the place were kept cleaner I would give this place a 5 because the location is fantastic and the motel does have some charm. Want to give it one more try because price and location can't be beat.

“not quite what we expected”

Wasn't quite what we expected. Appearance was pretty run down. They provided a shuttle for $8/pp that was good for the whole day, but the shuttle wasn't very reliable. Once they finally answered the phone, they would tell you that they would be there in 15 minutes. We waited over an hour for the shuttle to pick us up to bring us down town. Also heard another guest asking for a refund because the shuttle was very late.

“Good Location But Needs Major Updating”

The hotel staff were very friendly and the hotels close proximity to the beach were nice advantages. Do not expect much from the rooms however. They are very outdated and likely original from when the structure was built. Sinks had some rust marks in the bowl. The beds were recently replaced however and gave a good nights sleep. Just don't expect to be impressed by the rooms.
