“St Paddy's Day Parade - Newport, RI 2011”

Parking was perfect ! The hotel is in a great location, right in the center of all the activities for the weekend. Couldn't have been any better and the price was right !

“Exellent Location, Good Value”

Can't beat the location in the middle of everything on Newport Harbor. Good value for the price. Nice, well maintained, large suite. Comfortable to eat in and entertain guests. This is my fourth stay and I am nver disappointed

“Can't wait to return”

We stayed at the Newport Bay Club from 11/4-6 during restaurant weekend. Our room had been recently renovated and very comfortable. There is a gym to workout in, nice little restaurant downstairs where you can get coffee, breakfast & lunch if you are feeling a bit lazy. There is also a bar and nightclub on the lower level that was lots of fun. We enjoyed the hotel and location so much, that we decided to buy a timeshare during our stay. Can't wait to return.

“Great Location in Newport”

I stayed at here mid week to attend a meeting nearby. It's a great location on the wharf with parking and all the rooms are suites or bigger. They seem to have discounted rates in the middle of the week although probably not in the height of the season in Summer. They have a free breakfast but I went to the coffee shop in the same building that has good bagel breakfast sandwich.

“Convenient”

This hotel was very centrally located to many Newport attractions (wahrfs, restaurants, shopping). The building is very old but they do their best to maintain old charm with modern amenities. The room itself had big wooden beams and a true brick wall. The bathroom had been redone and was modern. Our room was above local shopping businesses, and the shops did not close until 11 pm or so - so travelers who retire early may be kept awake by the noise and music. Our biggest complaint was the very distinct odor that permeated the hallways and our room - not sure what caused the odor, but it may have been a combo of chemicals and just old. If you want location and an acceptable room at an average price for hotels in the area, this would do.

“Not a Club nor an Hotel.”

This is neither a club or an hotel. It is self catering units in a disused factory. The location is very good, right in the centre of activity in Newport, but there is no club whatever (and members of staff admitted to me that this was a fiction) and there are none of the amenities one would expect from a hotel. there is a receptionist who hands you a key card and that's about it. Breakfast is also a joke. A few miserable pastries wrapped in cling-film are put out, with a little fruit and yoghurt. This all disappears in about half an hour and after that there is nothing more and no-one there to ask for more. This is what the hotel calls a 'first come first served' breakfast. You are not served by anyone, and if you 'late come' then you get nothing whatever. I can assure you that my family and I are entirely used to travelling, and we have seen all kinds of accommodation, but few have been as disappointing as this one was.

“Just didn't love it...”

We really wanted to love the Newport Bay Club. But, we were left disappointed. The location is great and the price was reasonable. The staff was welcoming and the rooms very large. However, the rooms are badly in need of updating-stepping into the room was like stepping back into the 80s. They were absolutely clean and well cared for, just dated. It was novel having a sitting room and separate bedroom, but I was not fond of having the TV out of the bedroom as we like to watch TV in bed. The WORST part about the room experience was how loud it was. We stayed on the third floor which also contains the breakfast room. We could clearly hear everyone heading to and from breakfast, beginning at 8am. Also, you could clearly hear the people in the room above walking around; I don't mean simply hear footsteps...it was as if someone was actually tap dancing on our foreheads. If you are a younger couple that likes to stay out later and sleep in, this hotel is NOT for you. We are a very flexible couple that is pretty undemanding when it comes to hotels. We loved Newport and will return-however, we will not be staying at this hotel.
