Everyone was very polite. The waiter for breakfast kinda freaked us out a bit. Other than that the experience was awesome

Once in a Lifetime Experience

Posted Dec 13, 2013 on Hotels.com
My husband and I cut 4 days out of our vacation to splurge on this place, and we didn't regret it one bit! We stayed in the Greek Revival room. It was one of the smaller and cheaper rooms but it was still exceedingly well done. The staff are the best part of the hotel. They'll get you anything you want. The free champagne, chocolates, and cookies were awesome. Our favorite aspects were: the view of the Atlantic, the free use of the town car transportation, and the heated tile floors in the bathroom. The breakfast was quiet, plentiful, and had a great view. We hated to leave and can't wait to go back!

Might be worth the cost...

The inn is in a great location. Overlooks the bay, right on the cliff walk just 3/4 of a mile from the Breakers; beach just a short 5-minute walk away too. And, though it's not downtown (20-25 minute walk), you can walk to Bellevue Ave in about 10 minutes. Better yet, the inn will drive you into town and come pick you up with just a phone call -- this is a great service and should eliminate any concern about not being "in town". The amenities are also great. Fire pit, ingredients for s'mores, in-house restaurant (breakfast isn't a bad deal) and the room was very comfortable. Room was nice, bath was pretty lux. Being on the third floor, we did have a few flights of stairs (not a problem for us, might be for some). All staff are friendly, mostly college kids (so make sure to tip!). Turn-down service also a nice touch. You'll pay for all this comfort, but I was able to use my "free night" so our two-night stay seemed like a bargain. Would probably be worth it at regular price, depending on your budget.

Tastefully Converted Mansion

Each room is unique. Ours was small with not enough table surfaces in either the bedroom or bath. Everything else about the place was outstanding. First class service, excellent food and bar, and complimentary car service to anywhere around town. The location, right on Cliff Walk can't be beat. We'll go back next time in town.

The service was amazing and the hotel was fabulous. Really made me feel like I was a socialite from Newport . The staff was also probably the best part!

Presidential sweets

Posted Jul 11, 2013
Pros: The bar was lovely because it was unpretentious and interested my husband due to the top shelf quality of alcohol.
Cons: The hotel could advise the guests to tiptoe in-room. Guests could avoid lots of slamming doors, too. Don't know how it would be accomplished, however
Location: The scooter rental enabled a much better view of town than driving the car. There are terrific foodie destinations with lots of variety and tradition
The type of hotel is reminiscent of where Presidents stay. If you wish for a "sweet," you ought to skip top floor Presidential suites on skyscrapers and opt for one that is characteristic of an era in history. Don't skimp on costs for room service or dinner on the veranda or dining room. The thought and time put into the ambiance or climate of the hotel could have been orchestrated in Heaven above. There are no bedbugs to concern yourself with since the bedding is the most luxurious you'll ever find. The pampering is endless since you can order food through room service or get Spa Voyage to take you to your zen spot. Also, you can be dropped off/picked up by the valet instead of driving in traffic. Basically there is no other place to choose if you wish to be swept away. The quiet atmosphere is guaranteed on non-weekend nights. But you might catch a glimpse of wedding-goers on the weekend nights. Staying in two different suites allowed ocean views, but there was plenty to see in the garden-facing Gothic Suite including Netflix. The staff is accomodating, but be sure to follow up on things with them. The other hotels that compare are also highly regarded, however none would have the same personality. My husband and I were calmed just by virtue of its splendor. This resort has no need for anything additional because there is so much to do there and in-town. We would like to recommend this hotel to anybody who needs to renew their love for each other. It works.
