“Like Block Island without the ferry ride”
Great little NE Inn that also houses a very popular restaurant. Located just a five minute walk along the harbor to the main harbor/cafe/restuarant strip. A short drive to Newport attractions. Would definietely stay here again.
“Nice hotel!”
We stayed here for 3 nights and had a very enjoyable stay. I was a little nervous after reading some of the reviews, but found the hotel very clean and comfortable. Nice view of the water from our balcony. Good sized rooms...perfect for 2 people!! Very comfortable although small bed. Great food at the on site restaurant...although it was only open 1 of the nights we were there. Short drive to Newport although you do have to pay a bridge toll both ways!! Great restaurants in town! Would stay again!!
“Can't wait to go back!”
We had a wonderful 4 day weekend for Thanksgiving 2006. Our accommodations exceeded our expectations at the Bay Voyage Inn in Jamestwon RI. Our suite had everything one would need, including microwave oven, fridge, sink, dishes, etc. The suite was immaculate. And the best part was the location. We had a beautiful outside deck overlooking the Newport RI bridge, which lights up at night. Breathtaking view!
“Probably New England's best-kept secret”
The Wyndam Bay Voyage Inn was much nicer than we expected, and Jamestown itself was absolutely charming. This little island is easy to miss, as most people drive straight toward Newport without realizing there's a lovely little village on the harbor just a mile or so from the bridges. Newport itself is beautiful, of course, and only five or ten minutes away by car, but completely overrun by tourists in the summer. It was nice to go there for shopping, the cliff walk, and the shoreline sights, but it was even better to be able to retreat to peaceful Jamestown in the afternoon/evening. Great restaurants and nice little shops in Jamestown, too! Our only complaint with the Inn was that the front-desk staff wasn't particularly welcoming. The housekeeping staff was actually much more cheerful, cordial, and responsive. We got the feeling that the front desk people don't particular care for us "transients" (non-timeshare owners). Too bad, too, because some of us might someday want to become timeshare owners. Still, we were treated respectfully, if not very warmly. We will definitely plan another summer vacation there in the future.
“Special Anniversary at the Wyndham Bay Voyage Inn”
I had read reviews on this hotel that were not very nice about the staff. I can't say enough good things about them. They were courteous, helpful and knowledgable on the surrounding areas and activites. I would go back in a heartbeat.
“Very Nice Place ( right on the water)”
The staff and all employees could not have been more helpful. Ther knowlage of the area has very heplful in finding things to do during the VERY WET first day of ouf stay.
“Excellent Hotel”
Could not fault the hotel. It has fantastic views (we had a balcony overlooking the harbour), the room was really great, the staff were always very pleasant and helpful. There was even a cocktail party on one evening with free drinks and snacks. However, the restaurant was only open part of the week and was quite expensive. The main drawback was its location. It is in a very quiet location and there is very little to do there with only a very few shops (we couldn't find a supermarket) and one bar, although there were several eating places. Also, to get to Newport you have no choice but to go over the toll bridge which costs $4 each way.
“I would go back, just do it differently”
Rooms are nice, but get one on the water side. Beds could be upgraded. Sunday buffet was excellent.
“not bad”
worked very well for us. good food both there and nearby. convenient to Newport. scenic island drives. not the highest quality original construction and would not be surprised if noise might be a problem dependent on who was staying in adjoining units. noise was a minimal concern for us
“Expensive hotel with a nice view”
Room was very spacious and had a great view out the balcony. A little pricey for drinks and the hotel itself . The bar closed early and there was no breakfast at the restaurant on Saturday morning.
