School Vacation Get-Away

Posted Feb 27, 2015
Pros: Family friendly, pool and spa area, game room, staff.
This is a great place to take the kids for a few days of relaxation and fun. The heated indoor/outdoor salt water pool is open in the winter along with an indoor and outdoor spa. The sauna is clean and the exercise room has all the right equipment. There is also a game room with a pool table, air hockey, pinball and some other arcade games. Since the suites all have full kitchens, you can keep the family fed without leaving the resort. When you want to explore and enjoy Newport, there is so much you can walk to or take a short drive to get there. After 2 stays, I have found the staff to be friendly and accommodating. There are even video and board games for use and a movie theater with shows for different ages. If you are going for pure peace and quiet, this is probably not the right place but if you are looking for a large suite that is comfortable for up to 6 people and family friendly, this is a great choice.

Wyndham - Long Wharf - Everything Perfect!

Posted Nov 17, 2014
Pros: Location, the pool and Kids Club
Cons: Not a thing
Location: All the restaurants and shops are within walking distance
We have been to Newport several times and now that we have visited the Wyndham Long Wharf. Will not stay anywhere else. The Kids Club and the women who ran it were 1st rate especially Kiana and Brigid. My children did not want to leave to go home. Everyone was so accomodating. The pool area and the rooms are well maintained and updated. The location is the best part. Convenient to all restaurants. Already booking our return trip back. Highly recommended!!

Nice location, close to restaurants

Posted Oct 16, 2013
Pros: clean, well run. The people are friendly and helpful.
We wanted to spend a couple of days in Newport to take in the mansions before most close up for the winter. We found Wyndham-Long Wharf to be comfortable and within walking distance of our favorite restaurants. We would stay here again.

Decent hotel in a convenient location

Posted Jun 3, 2013
The hotel is not super fancy, but everything is clean and comfortable. The location is very good - Long Wharf is close enough to walk to the Newport main drag, but far enough to be relatively quiet. It's also very close to the visitor's center, which includes a bus stop to let you get to sights such as the Newport Mansions without having to fight traffic. Having a kitchenette is nice - and it included a full stove with oven.

Nice rooms, great rates, convenient location.

Posted Apr 29, 2013
Pros: Spacious rooms, location.
Cons: No maid service if you stay less than 3 days.
I stayed here this past weekend with my husband and my two young kids. We got a spacious, newly renovated 2 bedroom suite for an extremely reasonable price. The room was clean, new, and well appointed. There was even a washer-dryer. The kids loved the indoor-outdoor pool as well. The hotel is also conveniently located and within walking distance to the shops and restaurants, and a short drive to the sights.

Not as advertised!

Posted Oct 26, 2012
Location: No view from our room. You have to walk through a questionable area to reach the main area of restaurants and shops.
This is a time share property not a hotel. Our room had holes in the carpet and a television from the 1980's. Our room was located right above the pool and we had noise from early morning until 11 pm. The elevator had construction carpet and debris in it during our entire stay. There was not adequate parking and very few covered spaces. Overall, I would not recommend this property. There are much nicer properties in the area.

Attractive Rates, Outdated & Tired Furnishings

Posted Oct 11, 2012
Pros: Low rates, full kitchen, free parking & wireless internet
Cons: Old furniture & mattresses, and 10-15 year old small-screen tube TV's, no food or room service
Location: Very convenient located on the harbor in downtown Newport
Located along the water next door to Newport's Visitor's Center, the locations is very convenient. This facility, with full kitchens is best suited for families where the number of beds outweighs the amenities normally found in a hotel room. Parking was free as was the wireless internet access. On the negative side, there is no room service. The furnishings were old and a bit tattered with a couch you would expect to see in a college dorm. The mattress was also old and uncomfortable. The TV's were small and probably 10-15 year old tube sets. The one in the bedroom was very small, probably 15" and the reception on both was poor. That said; folks don't visit Newport to sit in your hotel room. Checkout was 10am and we asked for a late checkout for our Tuesday departure. They were unwilling to be flexible and housekeeping knocked on our door at 8:30am (even with a Do Not Disturb sign on the door).
