Convenient if you want to go to the Mother Ship

Posted Oct 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
I reserved my stay while it was still owned by La Quinta, The Ambassador was courteous enough to let us know ahead of time and confirm our reservation.. The exterior looked a bit run down (i'm sure the new owners have plans on renovating it), but the room itself was very clean and comfortable. I would recommend this to anyone staying in Hampton for a show or just passing through.

Hotel was fine but our room was dirty

Posted Oct 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
The staff were friendly, but when we got to our room I noticed there was body hair all over the floor. Clearly it hadn't been swept after the last guests. We were heading out for a concert so I called the front desk and asked them to clean it up. They said they would (never apologized) and when we got home after the concert it was still dirty. It was late, so we just wore our shoes when entering the bathroom. Needless to say this was gross and annoying. I mentioned it the next morning when we checked out and they still didn't even apologize. Other then that I would have rated this hotel much better.

Dirty and uncomfortable

Posted Oct 23, 2013
Dirty, dirty, dirty and unconfortable! The walls had soda splashed in multiple places and sticky. Bed covers were stained. The curtains were dirty. The toilet was not wipe around the bowl near the floor. Big stains on carpet. It was so dirty we could not sleep, checked out by 8am, did not want to take a shower or use the towels!

Reasonable location for our nostalgia trip

Posted Oct 16, 2013 on Hotels.com
Management changed from chain hotel to locally owned between reservation and arrival. That was NOT a plus. Owner/manager had absolutely no knowledge of the area. Fortunately, a young lady who came on to work later after our checkin was knowledgeable and steered us to the seafood restaurants we sought. She saved the stay! Breakfast was slim and breakfast bar was messy and not cleaned/maintained.

Pros: Staff was trying to make the best out of a bad situation.
Cons: Everything. There is a lot of work to be done to get this motel up to par.
Location: The location was very convenient. I went for Hampton University's Homecoming and it was not a far drive. Close to restaurants, shopping and interstate
First off, the hotel is no longer a La Quinta. It is called the Ambasador. The wifi says the Galaxy hotel. Anyway, it had changed hands two weeks prior to my arrival and the kinks were not worked out. The pics online must have been from 20 years ago because this place is so run down; peeling paint, dirty doors, rickety and rusted luggage caddies, etc. The whole place had that sickening Pine-Sol smell. The TV was a nice flat screen, but their cable only worked about half of the time we were there. Luckily I was out of the room most of the time. The sink was stopped up. There was plenty of hot water and the beds were comfortable. If you asked for things, the staff was accommodating. We were given a partial refund due to the lack of TV. The rooms were swept, not vacuumed and the maid didn't make the bed. Cleaned the room and left the beds unmade.

passing through

Good Hotel for the night. passing through on the way to the Outer Banks. EASY access to the freeway. it is unfortunate the smell of mold is so strong because the room was clean. Considering the over all price it was still a value. Breakfast is an added treat!

Nice place to sleep

Posted Sep 14, 2013 on Hotels.com
We traveled with a pet. There was no problem with that and the room was clean. It wasn't a luxury hotel, and it wasn't super roomy, but we did have a comfortable nights sleep, and it is individual entrance which is convenient for staying with a pet.

Close to Hampton University

Walls are paper-thin. Not good hearing people use toilet in room next door. Tho, the staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful.
