Needs TLC

Posted Jul 28, 2014
Guest room needs more attention such as carpets cleaned (mildew spots & stains), bedspreads cleaned (stains visible on top), cleaner bathrooms (tub/shower stained). Had water leak in room through air conditioner after a rain and was promptly moved to another room, but there were large stains on the carpet in this area where this has obviously been an on-going problem but never taken care of. When moved to new room, had a nasty smell in the room which lasted on clothes packed in suitcase for rest of trip.Pool area could use some TLC, too.

Great Central Location for all the Activities

Posted Jul 13, 2014
Pros: The staff and location were what we liked best.
Location: There are plenty of places to eat and shop nearby. We had a day at Virginia Beach but spent most of our time at Busch Gardens and Water Country.
Staff were very friendly and attentive. The breakfast choices were good except the fruit offered was canned fruit cocktail. The infused water and cookies in the lobby was inviting every day when we came in from out activities. The room showed some wear but it was clean and the double queens were great for our sons who shared a bed. Overall, a great experience.

A Decent Choice

Posted Jul 5, 2014
Pros: Location, value, great customer service.
Cons: Sound-proofing in the rooms and fresh fruits available for breakfast.
Location: Virginia Living Museum, Mariner's Museum, Peninsula Fine Arts Centre, Patrick Henry Mall, several great parks
To start, the staff here are friendly and helpful; check in was smooth and easy, as was check out. The hotel is very close to I-64 and close to many places in Newport News. The rooms were clean and well apportioned, and the fitness room was small but adequate. There is a nice indoor pool as well, but this being summer, we were out and about all day so never took advantage of it. Breakfasts were good, my one and only wish with it is that they include some fresh fruits instead of just a canned fruit cocktail. Otherwise, I was pleased with breakfast as was my family. My one other issue, and the only one that I could think of, was that the walls are very thin, leading to you hearing everything in the halls and your neighbours' rooms. Otherwise, we had a great stay and will likely return for future trips.

Good.

Rooms are spacious and clean. Hotel overall is clean. Friendly and accommodating staff. Great breakfast. Typical Country Inn & Suites hotel. The only issue I had was that the walls seem "thin" I was able to hear the conversations of the people in the rooms on either side of us. Wasn't a big issue as me and my son were able to fall & stay asleep, just haven't had that experience at a Country Inn & Suites before.

This is my second time staying here.

Pros: The staff and the hotel is clean.
Cons: Parking
Location: Don't know about that. I had to take care of some family matters.
Everyone here is very nice & it is clean. If I need to come back to this area I would stay here again.

Nice and at home

Posted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: The lobby, outer decor of building, the room decor
Cons: Customer service of staff
Location: It was in Newport News....wasn't in a great spot at all. It was in a hideaway off the Main Street.
My experience wasn't the best. I came for a night trip to a beautiful outside hotel. The lobby was very warm and pleasant with decorations. My room was awesome for the price I paid. I walked in to check in to have to wait for the front desk lady to get off a phone in the back room. There wasn't any wash clothes available due to the hotel selling out the night before. I requested some for my room and was told they would be delivered personally by the front desk agent. I never got them until I went to get them myself the next day upon check out off the housekeeping cArt. The AC in the room was faulty by blowing cold air for a few minutes then shutting off. So we suffered all night when the temp was set on 65! I emailed the general manager my complaint and have not heard from him but was told by another front desk agent he checks the email daily.
