“Noisy but otherwise very comfortable”
My only complaint is about the noise. We were on the third floor and we heard a lot of noise from the floor above and from the hall. I would recommend getting on the top floor if possible. Otherwise, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and everything else was in good order. Room was a bit small but decent value.
“Good Hotel”
I had a great stay at the Marriott.
“Great Place to stay”
I am very pleased with our stay at the Boston Marriott Newton. It was exactly what we were looking for. It is about 15-20 min from central Boston and 45min from Salem.. The hotel was very clean and had several amenities. I recommend getting the Breakfast upgrade as the food is really good and it's so convenient. Our room was clean and we had a great view of the lake. The hotel is also right next to a canoe/kayak place which which is pretty good and reasonably priced. I would definitely go back and hopefully soon.
“Excellent hotel in a great area”
This was our first trip to Boston in many years, to visit our daughter who has just moved there. We chose Newton Marriott because it's about 15 minutes from her apartment and it was much more affordable than hotels in the center of Boston. It is a lovely property, and our room was large and comfortable. They charged for parking which I found odd given its large parking lot in a suburban setting, but it was still a very good value. The hotel staff were professional and friendly; we will definitely stay there again.
“Good location!”
We decided on the Marriot after hotels closer to Newton were booked, and the attractive rate. Despite it being the boston marathon weekend, and that the hotel was completely booked, we had a quiet, comfortable stay. The view from our room was beautiful, and the breakfast buffet first rate. We also appreiated a great recommendation for a quick dinner (nearby Tom's Pizza).
“Will go back when in Boston again”
The accommodations met if not exceeded our expectations
“Great Staff!”
Very friendly and accommodating staff
“Unimpressed”
Hotel was OK. Lounge area colorless and had no character. Restaurant acceptable. No refrigerator in room, no hair dryer (had to ask, along with luggage rack). Real problem was location. Had to shuttle to train station to get into Boston, but shuttle stopped at 8 p.m.! That meant cabs, which are quite costly. Private cab service to Boston College (maybe 5 miles) was $40 round trip. If you wanted to go to Boston, that amount could easily be $60 or more -- just to go to dinner! Bad location -- only reason to stay there would be some proximity to Boston College.
“September Trip”
Everyone wants the perfect stay and to have the perfect time. I'll only write what detracted from "perfect". The $9 daily parking charge was off-putting. This hotel is not downtown and you're not paying for anything special. You're parking your car in a wide-open lot. Why the charge? Off-putting. The breakfast buffet was good. I'd recommend you pre-book it as it will be cheaper than the $15 or so per person you'll pay if you decide to do this on the fly. Also, heads up to kids who like pancakes. There are no pancakes. The room was small and the bathroom was very, VERY cramped. Two adults and two kids. Very tight. The bathroom was something you'd find in a NYC studio apartment. Disappointing. You could, COULD have a very long walk from the elevators. That is one long hallway from the lobby elevators and it only goes one way. We had a room about halfway down and it was a decent stroll. If you're at the end of the hallway, you're not going to like it. The roads around the hotel are a little confusing. If you have a Garmin you'll be fine. If not, be aware it's easy to get lost. Didn't use the pool, workout room or business center. All exist. All in all, not bad. Big kudos to a woman at the front desk who recommended a GREAT Italian place called the Chateau. 10 minute drive. Great, great call.
“very good value for the price paid”
A bit away from the city the Marriott Newton is still a good choice because it offers all the comfort you expect from a Marriott Hotel at a very reasonable price. Parking is free so if you come by car this is another advantage. Restaurant and bar are only standard but breakfast is OK.
