Expected more

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: The lobby area was pleasant to look at and the breakfast waiter very nice as were the doormen. We had a view of the river or lake. Quiet.
Cons: Complimentary fresh tea and coffee, free wifi, less cramped bathroom.
Location: Visiting family.
When I stayed at similar hotel chain a year ago, I had a better experience. The reception desk was near the door and it felt as if the staff at the desk were there to help whenever we were leaving or entering the building. This hotel lacked other features I had come to expect having stayed at a Hilton chain. I am a holiday traveller and would ordinarily choose a small boutique hotel. The Marriott did not have complimentary cookies and drinks, including fresh milk for tea and coffee, it did not have complimentary wifi, which really is basic. The wifi that I did pay for would switch off to another link when I moved from one part of the hotel to another, the lobby or the restaurant. This was annoying. We were also annoyed by being woken by a wake up call, the morning after lengthy travel and jet lag when we were on holiday. I did receive an apology and it didn't happen again, but they might have offered some compensation for making my day much more difficult than planned. We were not certain we really wanted to be asked for further payment with the tipping envelop for cleaning staff. They changed our towels when we did not really want them to, and left unneeded bars of soap etc. Perhaps they thought that would get them a better tip.

Convenient alternative to downtown

Posted Sep 23, 2014
Pros: Conveniently located to Newton and BC where our son was playing rugby.
Cons: Include breakfast and internet in the room charge.
A discounted weekend rate brought us to this venue close to Boston College. The super-modern atmosphere is not our favorite. An end of the hall room, kind of smallish was a turn-off. The extra charge for breakfast, although modest, was unnecessary considering the room charge. The same for the lack of room internet service included.

Dated hotel

Posted Sep 8, 2014
This place needs to be renovated, it looks old and smells like it too. Our room had an overwhelming smell of mildew, which I'm guessing had something to do with the old carpet. From the popcorn ceiling to the antique carpet. . This place was dated.

Disappointment

Posted Aug 26, 2014
We have stayed at this Marriott many times. On this occasion, we were sent to our room and, after about 15 minutes, someone came to the door and opened it. The gentleman came in and saw us. He explained that he and and his wife had been in this room and wanted to change and that the front desk gave him a key to retrieve some things that his spouse had forgotten. We were stunned and then realized that they had used the bathroom, removed various toiletries and taken the plastic laundry bag before they had switched rooms. We complained and the manager blamed a subordinate for giving the previous occupant a key. She offered free internet but, in the process of authorizing it, blocked our use of the internet for about an hour. We don't have much choice but to stay at this hotel because of its proximity to my mother-in-law's home. But, if there was a good alternative, we would take it.

Hotel gem near Boston, Charles River and colleges

Posted Aug 24, 2014
I was not expecting such a wonderful hotel . Everything was perfect! Next door there is an amazing place you can walk to rent kayaks and other boats in a beautiful and unspoiled part of the Charles River. We actually saw herons and turtles! Who knew!

Will return

Posted Aug 24, 2014
This is our second time at this hotel, and we enjoyed this stay just as much as the first time. Just minutes from Boston and right near great boating place. Inside great accommodating staff. This time there was a leak in the a/c, and it was taken care of immediately. Highly recommend this place.

Access to Boston...

Posted Aug 21, 2014
Pros: Easy access to highway system - Boston and surrounding areas. Large parking area.
Cons: Price the rooms to include parking and wireless. It is tacky to nickel and dime customers for these and other services.
Location: At I90/I95 jcn in Newton, MA.
Arrived 10:00 pm. At check-in, reception was rather brusque. We were told that they were busy with a large wedding party. Our room was across from elevators, and we were disturbed several times by "crowd" noise in the hallway and by a noise that may have been a service elevator. Parking and wireless are at additional cost.

Price is not that good.

Posted Aug 20, 2014
Pros: good.
Cons: Breakfast should be covered in the rate.
Location: We come to visit Boston, drive to Riverside train stop and park there($6/day) is very convience. Beside, hotel has shuttle to the station also.
Price is not that good, not covering breakfast which is good and very costly. Bed is very confortable, room view good, stuff good, gym good. Position is very close to I90 & 95, which is too closed that we miss the correct ramp twice.
