“Would not stay there again or recommend this hotel”

We read the on line reviews before booking so we checked in without high expectations. We were looking for a budget priced room within walking distances of the Falls. That's what we got! The front desk staff were not very friendly and did not go out out of their way to improve our stay. The advertised free parking is no longer free. There is now a 10 dollar charge with tax. No offer made to waive the unexpected charge. We arrived early, but no offer to allow us to check in early or use the parking lot prior to our check in. Our room was clean, but there was a bad musty odor in the hallway on the first floor. There was a small pool and gym but the doors were locked. The posted sign on the gym door stated in was open at 6:00 AM. At 7:30AM,the door was still locked. My husband called the front desk to ask if someone could open the door so we could use the gym. We were informed the doors would be opened at 9:30. The free parking, gym and indoor heated pool were 3 reasons we selected this hotel. Weak! We checked out! The parking lots were empty both days.I wonder why! We would not recommend this hotel or stay there again! There are too many other quality hotels in the area. The falls were great!

“Terrible customer service”

Liked the fact that they had pay movies which are not available at most moderately priced locations, and the location is awesome for walking to casino niagara and balconies are a plus. But the staff look like they cant stand to be there, they nickle and dime you for everything and really they might as well roll their eyes when you talk to them. This is the second time I stayed here, I kind of forgot the rotten customer service then it all came back to me when I arrived. Everything is very very dated (they even still use glass cups in bathroom but they have calcium rings eww), and you can tell they just dont take care of things anymore.

“Wonderful location, short walk to falls”

I was very pleased again. This was our third visit to Michael's Inn. The location can't be beat. It's right on the path to the falls and when you consider the free parking, it's the best deal in the area. The pool and hot tub were well maintained and clean. They do have a fitness room, but I did not use that. The only meal we had there was breakfast and it was good. I know they serve other meals, but we spent the core part of our days at the Falls themselves or at other attractions in the area. Using the parkservice buses, we did not need our own car at all. I had read an earlier review saying to request rooms not on the first floor, so I can't say what a first floor room is like. Our second room floor was perfect. Half of the rooms have a view of the gorge. We did not request a room with a view.

Area recommendations

All of the Niagara Park area. We did not check out the downstream portion of the park until we were leaving town. There was much more to see. Clifton Hill has the more touristy attactions. If you have teenagers, this is the hot spot for them. Many of the more popular restaurants are hear or up on Victoria Street. If you can include a Friday night, there are fireworks over the American Falls.

Getting there

If at all possible, get off of the highways and include the Welland Canal area or parts of the Wine Country Tours. Both are very nice additions to the trip. We went for only 3 days, but it felt like much longer since our variety of activities was so varied.

Events and shows

The aviary which is stone's throw from the hotel was well worth the money. The last half of the tour was breath taking. We didn't know about the Javanese Tea House that was in the Aviary and had just eaten, but we wished we could have eaten there instead. It looked interesting.

“Great Time At Michals”

Michals was smack dab right in the middle of everything. I had a good time while staying there. The staff was friendly and helpful. We walked everywhere from Michals since it was close to everything. Plus its right next to the USA bridge. I would recommend this to anyone.

“Needs an update and a good cleaning”

My husband and I stayed here based on other reviews, but were EXTREMELY disappointed when we arrived. The hotel -- or motel, really -- is very run down. There were someone else's dirty towels underneath our bathroom sink when we arrived. And they were still there when we left after staying two nights. There was no fitted sheet on the bed, and the flat sheet was stained and worn thin. It came off in the night and left us sleeping on a disgusting yellow mattress. We travel all around the world and don't stay at terribly high-end hotels or anything, so it's not that our standards are too high. We were looking for a comfortable, modest, clean room and got dirty towels, cobwebs and a insect graveyard on the balcony. The only two positives: 1) the front desk folks are helpful and nice, and 2) it is a five-minute walk to the Maid of the Mist.

Area recommendations

Good for seeing the Maid of the Mist and other falls sights -- if you don't mind sleeping in a crummy room.

“If you want a good pool this is where you should stay”

This hotel is locate just feet from the Rainbow Bridge. You can walk to almost all of the attractions. It has a wonderful heated indoor pool, hot tub, dry sauna and exercise room. The hotel itself is old and in need of repair. Free parking is the only bonus for staying there. No free breakfast or tour deals. However, we return back to the hotel a few times each year.

Area recommendations

The entire Niagara Region has something for everybody.

Dining

Don't eat in the immediate area of the Falls since the food is over priced and not of good quality. Fast food spots are in double of the price that you will pay in the states. Always pay with Canadian money because most places will hit you with an up-charge. Go to the UFO if you want a good meal at a good price.

“perfect area to stay, I will be back”

The staff of the hotel was very friendly and accomodating. They knew the history of the area very well and always took time to point out other places of interest. The pool and spa was a delight especially after a full day of walking around. This was our first visit to the Falls and we will be back. The location, the staff, and the price of a room at Michaels cemented our plans for a return. I most certainly would recommend this hotel

Dining

We found out going to the Casino ata 3:30 in the afternoon for lunch was much less expensive that going to a fast food restaurant. We paid the lunch price which is a third less than dinner price (4:00 pm) and the food exceeded all of our expectations. Great Deal, Great Food, very friendly staff.
